How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role

    You will be responsible for the testing, diagnostics, repair, maintenance, modification and calibration of mechanical equipment, working down to module and individual component level.

    You will work from approved engineering documentation, technical procedures and OEM information, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately and in accordance with the required engineering standards.

    The role will involve planned and ad-hoc repair activities, equipment surveying, refurbishment and maintenance, as well as supporting technical solutions where original manufacturer support may not be available.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Fault-find and resolve equipment issues down to module/component level.

    * Work from approved engineering documentation, technical procedures and OEM data.

    * Support equipment surveying, refurbishment and maintenance activities.

    * Assess and condition equipment as appropriate, including serviceable/unserviceable status.

    * Support the development of repair solutions, including reverse engineering where required.

    * Create and maintain technical documentation and test procedures.

    * Provide specialist engineering advice to colleagues and stakeholders.

    * Support and mentor junior engineers and apprentices where required.

    * Work within established engineering governance, safety procedures and relevant legislation.

    * Contribute to resolving urgent operational requirements and equipment issues.

    You will ideally have:

    Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, repair and fault-finding.

    Experience within heavy engineering, Defence, aerospace, Ground Support Equipment (GSE), automotive or another complex engineering environment.

    Hands-on experience with testing, diagnostics, repair, maintenance, modification and/or calibration.

    Experience working at module or component level.

    The ability to interpret and work from engineering documentation, technical procedures, ASI and/or OEM information.

    A good understanding of engineering governance, safety and quality requirements.

    The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a technical team.

    Qualifications

    You should hold:

    A Level 3 engineering qualification with a recognised engineering apprenticeship, or

    A Level 4 engineering qualification with an advanced/higher apprenticeship, or demonstrable equivalent engineering experience.

    You should also be eligible for Engineering Technician (EngTech) professional registration in accordance with UK-SPEC.

    Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

    * Defence or aerospace engineering

    * Ground Support Equipment (GSE)

    * Heavy engineering

    * Mechanical overhaul or refurbishment

    * Component-level repair

    * Calibration

    * Reverse engineering

    * Test procedure development

    * Engineering certification/conditioning
