The Patent Litigation team is consistently recognised as a leading practice and handles a broad range of sophisticated disputes, including infringement and validity cases, entitlement disputes, SPCs, employee compensation, exhaustion of rights, patent infringement threats and licensing disputes.
The team is increasingly active in international and cross-border matters, including proceedings before the English Patents Court and Unified Patent Court, often working alongside lawyers across other specialist practice areas.
The Role
Working closely with Partners and senior lawyers on complex patent litigation matters.
Managing significant aspects of cases with a high level of responsibility.
Assisting with patent infringement, validity, entitlement and other intellectual property disputes.
Supporting domestic, international and multi-jurisdictional litigation.
Undertaking detailed legal research and analysis.
Drafting pleadings, correspondence, submissions and other legal documentation.
Assisting with hearings, trials, disclosure and case preparation.
Working alongside colleagues across life sciences, regulatory, competition and commercial disputes.
Developing strong relationships with clients and external advisers.
Contributing to business development, including client events, pitches and networking.
Supporting knowledge management and contributing to the development of the wider practice.
Depending on seniority, delegating work to and mentoring junior lawyers.About You
2-4 years' post-qualification experience.
Strong experience in patent litigation or a closely related intellectual property practice.
First-rate legal skills and strong technical knowledge.
Experience working within partner-led teams while taking ownership of matters.
Excellent drafting, research and analytical skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence in dealing directly with clients.
Commercially minded with an interest in business development.
Ambitious, self-motivated and keen to develop within a specialist practice.
Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively as part of a supportive team.
