How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

A specialist construction consultancy based in Hemel Hempstead is looking to appoint an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team. With a strong focus on the healthcare sector, this is an excellent opportunity for a Project Quantity Surveyor to work on technically demanding projects where careful cost control, planning and commercial management are essential.

The successful Project Quantity Surveyor will take responsibility for projects from early-stage feasibility and cost planning through procurement, construction and final account. Working closely with clients, consultants and contractors, the Project Quantity Surveyor will provide clear commercial advice while helping to ensure healthcare schemes are delivered efficiently and within budget.

This role would suit a confident Project Quantity Surveyor with UK consultancy experience who is comfortable managing their own workload and taking ownership of commissions. The position offers the chance to build specialist healthcare sector knowledge while continuing to develop broader technical, contractual and client-facing skills. The Project Quantity Surveyor will also benefit from working within a professional team where quality of service and long-term client relationships are highly valued.

Project Quantity Surveyor - Key Responsibilities:

Preparing feasibility estimates, cost plans and project budgets

Producing tender documentation and supporting procurement processes

Managing valuations, variations and change control

Preparing regular cost reports and financial updates

    Negotiating final accounts with contractors

Advising clients on commercial and contractual matters

Attending site, design team and client meetings

Managing healthcare commissions through both pre- and post-contract stages

Project Quantity Surveyor - Candidate Requirements:

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related construction discipline

Relevant UK PQS or cost consultancy experience

Healthcare project experience would be highly advantageous

Working towards MRICS, or already chartered, would be beneficial

Good understanding of JCT contracts and UK procurement routes

    Confident managing projects independently

Strong communication, organisation and client-facing skills

    In Return:

    £50,000 - £60,000 per annum

    Hemel Hempstead location

Specialist exposure to healthcare sector projects

    Strong level of project ownership

Continued professional development and progression opportunities
