How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Business Development Manager / Field Based with National Travel / £50,000-£55,000 – OTE £100k+
IPA Supplies is a growing supplier of janitorial, catering and medical supplies, providing organisations with a comprehensive one-stop-shop solution. As part of our continued expansion, we are looking for an exceptional Business Development Manager with one clear objective: To identify, develop and win significant new business.

This is not an account-management or people-management role. It is a 100% new business development position, focused on finding opportunities, opening doors and converting prospects into long-term customers.

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated new-business professional who thrives on the challenge of building their own pipeline and winning substantial B2B accounts.

We are ideally looking for someone based in the North of England A1(M) Leeds to Newcastle

You will be responsible for developing new business opportunities, targeting organisations where IPA Supplies can build substantial and long-term commercial relationships. From identifying the initial prospect through to presenting, negotiating and closing the deal, you will take ownership of the entire new-business process.

    What to Expect From Us:

Competitive basic salary of £50,000 to £55,000 per annum
Attractive new-business commission / bonus structure
Company car, company pension, laptop and mobile phone
    Home and field-based working
Excellent earning potential for a successful new-business professional
    Who We're Looking For

This role will suit an established Business Development Manager who genuinely enjoys winning new customers.

You will be comfortable starting with a cold prospect, finding the right decision-maker, creating an opportunity and ultimately closing the business.

The Responsibilities of the Business Development Manager Will Include:

Proactively identifying and targeting high-value prospective customers
Generating your own new-business opportunities and building a strong pipeline
Identifying and developing tender opportunities and securing meetings with senior decision-makers
Understanding prospective customers' existing supply arrangements and identifying opportunities for IPA Supplies Ltd
Developing compelling commercial proposals and presentations
Managing opportunities from initial contact through to negotiation and close
Negotiating pricing and commercial agreements while protecting margin
Building relationships with key stakeholders throughout the sales process
    Targeting multi-site and regional organisations
Maintaining a strong and accurately managed sales pipeline
Working closely with our purchasing, operations and customer service teams when developing larger opportunities
Representing IPA Supplies Ltd professionally at customer meetings, industry events and networking opportunities
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

A strong track record of winning significant B2B new business
Strong commercial and negotiation skills, and experience developing opportunities from a cold start
The ability to prospect and generate opportunities independently
The ability to develop persuasive commercial proposals and confidence dealing with senior decision-makers
Experience managing longer and more complex sales cycles
A driven, self-motivated approach and the resilience and persistence required for genuine new-business development
A demonstrable history of achieving challenging new-business targets
Experience within janitorial, cleaning, catering, medical, facilities management, hospitality supplies, workplace supplies or B2B distribution would be particularly valuable, although we are open to exceptional new-business professionals from other sectors.
    What This Role Isn't

We want to be clear about the nature of this position. This isn't an account-management role where you inherit an established customer portfolio. It isn't a sales-management role focused on managing a team. And it isn't a role where all your appointments and leads will simply be provided for you. This is a genuine 100% new-business development position. We are looking for someone who enjoys prospecting, opening doors, developing opportunities and, most importantly, closing deals.

    Why IPA Supplies?

IPA Supplies has ambitious plans for continued growth, and new customer acquisition is central to those plans.

For the right person, this represents an opportunity to take real ownership of new-business development, with considerable freedom to identify and pursue opportunities.

You'll have the support and infrastructure of an established business behind you, combined with the autonomy to develop your own opportunities and build your own pipeline.

Most importantly, your success and earning potential will be directly linked to the new business you create.

If you are a proven B2B Business Development Manager who gets genuine satisfaction from opening doors, developing opportunities and closing significant deals, we'd like to hear from you
