How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Title: Financial Modeller

    Department: Investment

    Reports to: Chief Investment Officer

    Location: London, England, United Kingdom

Elements Green - That's who we are

Elements Green is a UK-based, international solar and BESS investor and developer, headquartered in Mayfair, London, with a pedigree dating back to 2008. EG has established a global footprint and a strong reputation for being at the forefront of technological and commercial evolution within the renewable energy sector. With greenfield development teams in the UK, Germany and Australia, we are capable of taking ownership of the development process, from origination through to construction, connection and operation.

    Role Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical and commercially minded Financial Modeller to join our Investment Team. The role will support the evaluation, structuring, financing and execution of investments across a portfolio of solar PV and BESS assets.

Working closely with investment, development, commercial, engineering, finance and legal colleagues, the Financial Modeller will take ownership of the development and maintenance of sophisticated project and investment financial models. These models will underpin investment decisions, project financing, valuation, transaction structuring and portfolio optimisation throughout the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will combine strong financial modelling and analytical capabilities with a sound understanding of project finance, investment analysis and the commercial drivers of renewable energy projects. The role offers significant exposure to senior decision-makers, lenders, investors, advisers and transaction counterparties and provides an opportunity to contribute directly to the deployment of capital into renewable energy infrastructure.

    Key Responsibilities

    Financial Modelling & Analysis

    • Build, maintain and enhance detailed financial models for renewable energy development and investment opportunities, including greenfield developments, acquisitions, joint ventures, project financings and asset disposals.
    • Develop integrated project finance models incorporating construction, operations, financing, taxation, accounting assumptions and cash-flow waterfalls.
    • Model project revenues under relevant commercial structures, including power purchase agreements, contracts for difference, merchant power exposure, capacity or ancillary-service revenues and other applicable support mechanisms.
    • Analyse project economics using key investment metrics including project and equity IRR, NPV, cash yield, payback, debt-service coverage ratios and other return and credit metrics.
    • Undertake scenario, sensitivity and downside analysis to assess the impact of changes in power prices, generation, capital expenditure, operating costs, financing terms, construction schedules and other key assumptions.
    • Ensure financial models are robust, transparent, auditable and consistent with internal modelling standards and industry best practice.
    • Review, interrogate and, where appropriate, rebuild financial models received from developers, sellers, advisers, lenders and transaction counterparties.

    Investment Appraisal & Transaction Support

    • Support the Investment Team in evaluating new investment opportunities from initial screening through due diligence, investment approval, financing and financial close.
    • Translate technical, commercial, legal, tax and financing inputs into coherent financial assumptions and investment cases.
    • Prepare financial analysis and outputs for investment committee papers, board materials, lender presentations and transaction documentation.
    • Support valuation analysis for project acquisitions, disposals, development-stage investments and portfolio transactions.
    • Assist with transaction structuring, including assessment of capital structures, shareholder funding, debt sizing, refinancing opportunities and distribution mechanisms.
    • Work with external advisers and counterparties during financial, tax, technical, legal and commercial due diligence.
    • Support negotiations with lenders, investors and commercial counterparties by analysing the financial impact of alternative transaction terms.

    Project Finance

    • Support project financing processes, including debt sizing, financing scenario analysis and evaluation of lender terms.
    • Model senior debt, construction facilities, bridge facilities, reserve accounts, shareholder funding and other financing instruments as applicable.
    • Analyse financing metrics including DSCR, LLCR, PLCR, gearing, debt capacity and covenant headroom.
    • Support lender due diligence, model audit processes and resolution of modelling queries.
    • Evaluate refinancing and capital optimisation opportunities across operational and development-stage assets.

    Portfolio & Strategic Analysis

    • Support financial forecasting and valuation of the company's renewable energy portfolio.
    • Maintain investment models as projects progress through development, construction and operations, incorporating updated assumptions and actual performance where appropriate.
    • Analyse portfolio-level returns, funding requirements and capital allocation decisions.
    • Support strategic analysis relating to market entry, technology selection, development strategy, partnerships and portfolio optimisation.
    • Contribute to budgeting, business planning and long-term financial forecasting where required.

    Candidate Profile

    Experience, Skills & Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics or another relevant quantitative discipline.
    • Professional qualifications such as ACA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent would be advantageous but are not essential.
    • Strong financial modelling experience gained within renewable energy, infrastructure investment, project finance, investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, advisory or a comparable environment.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with demonstrable experience building complex financial models from first principles.
    • Strong understanding of project finance principles, cash-flow modelling, valuation methodologies and investment return analysis.
    • Ability to understand and model the principal commercial and financial drivers of infrastructure or energy investments.
    • Strong analytical and numerical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
    • Ability to interpret technical, commercial, contractual and financial information and translate it into appropriate model assumptions.
    • Experience undertaking sensitivity, scenario and downside analysis.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial analysis clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work within transaction-driven deadlines.
    • VBA, Python, Power BI or other analytical/automation capabilities would be advantageous but are not essential.

    Personal Attributes

    The successful candidate will be:

    • Commercially minded – able to look beyond the mechanics of a model and understand the underlying investment proposition and value drivers.
    • Analytical and rigorous – comfortable working with complex financial information and maintaining a high standard of accuracy.
    • Intellectually curious – motivated to understand energy markets, technologies, commercial structures and evolving investment opportunities.
    • Proactive and accountable – able to take ownership of models and analytical workstreams and drive them through to completion.
    • Collaborative – comfortable working across investment, development, engineering, commercial, finance and legal teams.
    • Clear and credible – able to communicate financial conclusions and key sensitivities effectively to senior management and external stakeholders.
    • Adaptable – capable of operating effectively in a fast-moving development and investment environment where priorities may evolve rapidly.
