Interim Banking & Finance Lawyer (Corporate Lending) 6-Month Contract | London | Hybrid Working
An international financial institution is seeking an experienced Banking & Finance Lawyer to join its Transaction Management team on an initial 6-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer with strong corporate lending experience to work on a broad range of high-value loan transactions, supporting major corporate clients and collaborating with senior stakeholders across banking, legal and origination functions.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing and executing corporate lending transactions ranging from approximately £10m to £750m, taking ownership of the documentation process from initial structuring through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the execution of bilateral and syndicated loan transactions from inception to completion.
- Advise on transaction structuring and identify key commercial and legal risks associated with complex lending arrangements.
- Draft, review and negotiate term sheets, facility agreements, intercreditor agreements and related financing documentation.
- Act as the primary point of contact for external legal counsel throughout transactions.
- Support internal stakeholders by interpreting legal advice and providing practical, commercial guidance on financing arrangements.
- Ensure lending documentation aligns with internal policy requirements, credit approvals and prevailing market standards.
- Project manage transactions through to completion and coordinate with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in negotiations and stakeholder discussions concerning commercial, legal and policy considerations.
Candidate Profile
- Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 4 years' PQE gained in banking and finance, leveraged finance or corporate lending.
- Strong working knowledge of LMA documentation and the UK syndicated loan market.
- Experience leading and managing multiple lending transactions simultaneously.
- Ability to negotiate and advise independently on complex financing documentation from both a commercial and legal perspective.
- Exposure to transactions such as acquisition finance, refinancings, management buyouts, sustainable-linked lending and other corporate financing structures would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and a genuine interest in the UK corporate lending market.
