How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Reimagine how world-class journalism reaches the next generation and lead the digital transformation of a globally respected media title.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of the digital future of an established international publication, combining authoritative journalism with new formats, platforms and experiences that will engage a new digitally native audience.

    Digital Editor

    £100,000-£110,000 base, depending on experience

Hybrid - minimum three days per week in Central London

    The Company

A highly respected international media organisation with a long-established reputation for producing rigorous, engaging and authoritative journalism.

Its content reaches millions of readers globally across print and digital channels, covering some of the most important developments shaping science, technology and society. The business is now entering an ambitious period of digital-first innovation while remaining firmly committed to the quality and credibility that underpin its reputation.

    The Role

You will take editorial ownership of the organisation’s digital products and lead its editorial teams through a period of significant innovation and change.

Working closely with editorial, product, technology, marketing and audience teams, you will:

    • Own the success of digital content and deliver audience, engagement and subscriber-growth objectives.
    • Develop strategies to reach younger, more diverse and digitally savvy audiences.
    • Reimagine high-quality journalism across video, audio, social media, podcasts and other emerging formats.
    • Identify new content verticals, distribution channels and digital experiences.
    • Build partnerships with creators, platforms and other organisations to extend reach and engagement.
    • Use audience insight, experimentation and data to inform commissioning and investment decisions.
    • Modernise editorial workflows and embed digital thinking throughout the wider organisation.
    • Lead training and capability-building initiatives that help teams embrace new technologies and storytelling techniques.
    • Work with product and technology teams to improve the user experience across owned digital platforms.
    • Establish and own clear KPIs measuring the reach, impact and commercial return of digital initiatives.

This is a strategic leadership position, but it also requires someone prepared to remain close to the content, test ideas and take a genuinely hands-on approach to execution.

    The Person

You will be an accomplished digital editorial leader with a strong record of producing outstanding content and growing audiences for a high-quality media organisation or digital publication.

You should be able to demonstrate:

    • Significant experience leading digital content and audience-growth strategies.
    • Success growing engagement, subscriptions and habitual audience behaviour.
    • Experience working across multiple formats, ideally including text, video, audio and social.
    • A deep understanding of digital platforms, content ecosystems and changing consumption habits.
    • The ability to lead established editorial teams successfully through digital transformation.
    • Experience working collaboratively with product, technology, marketing and commercial stakeholders.
    • An informed interest in emerging technologies, including the role of AI in content and new-product development.
    • Strong editorial judgement combined with commercial awareness and confidence using data.
    • An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to move comfortably between strategy and hands-on delivery.

You will be an imaginative, collaborative and empathetic leader who can inspire creative teams, challenge established thinking and introduce meaningful innovation without compromising editorial quality.
