How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Role: Electrical Surveyor and Qualified Supervisor

    Location: South Wales

    Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 (Full Time, Permanent)

    Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm

    About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and suitably qualified electrician to join its internal team, delivering domestic refurbishment and insurance reinstatement projects throughout South Wales.

This is a varied position combining electrical surveying, damage assessment, technical reporting, estimating, installation, testing, and remedial work. Projects typically involve occupied and vacant residential properties requiring repair or reinstatement following fire, flood, escape of water or accidental damage.

The successful candidate will inspect and test existing electrical installations, assess the nature and extent of any damage, prepare technical reports and costed scopes of work, and undertake the necessary repairs and installation works through to testing and certification.

The successful candidate will also assist the company in obtaining and maintaining NICEIC certification and registration under an appropriate electrical competent person scheme. Applicants must therefore have previous experience as a Qualified Supervisor or be able to demonstrate that they possess the qualifications, competence and experience required to be nominated and successfully assessed for this position.

As the role involves regular interaction with homeowners and policyholders, excellent communication skills and a professional, considerate approach are essential.

    Key Responsibilities

    Electrical Surveys and Damage Assessment

    * Conduct electrical surveys, inspections, and condition assessments at residential properties across South Wales, including testing existing installations to evaluate safety, condition, and serviceability

    * Assess electrical damage resulting from insured events (e.g. fire, flood, and escape of water), determine repair or replacement requirements, and identify any immediate electrical hazards with appropriate safety recommendations

    * Document findings through photographs, test results, drawings and reports, providing clear conclusions and highlighting where further intrusive investigation or specialist input may be required

    Reporting, Scoping and Estimating

    * Prepare clear technical reports, scopes of work, material schedules, estimates and quotations, clearly outlining assumptions, exclusions, access requirements, and provisional allowances

    * Distinguish insured damage from pre-existing defects and improvement works, providing technical advice to surveyors, project managers, clients, insurers, and their representatives

    * Review approved works for omissions, discrepancies, and variations, obtaining the necessary authority before undertaking additional or varied works

    Installation and Remedial Works

    * Undertake first fix, second fix, maintenance, remedial, installation, upgrade, and alteration works to a high professional standard

    * Diagnose and repair electrical faults within domestic properties, ensuring safe and effective solutions

    * Carry out initial verification, periodic inspection, and testing, including completion of relevant electrical certificates and condition reports

    * Complete Building Regulations notifications and other statutory documentation where required

    * Identify and procure required materials and coordinate electrical works with site teams, other trades, homeowners, and policyholders

    * Maintain accurate records, photographs, test results, and certification, ensuring all completed works are tested, certified and ready for handover

    Qualified Supervisor and NICEIC Responsibilities

    * Support the company’s application for NICEIC certification and Competent Person Scheme registration, including initial assessments and ongoing reassessments.

    * Act as the company’s nominated Qualified Supervisor, subject to successful NICEIC assessment and approval

    * Support the Principal Duty Holder in meeting NICEIC scheme requirements and maintaining appropriate electrical procedures, policies, and quality controls

    * Assess the competence of electricians and subcontractors, determine appropriate supervision levels, and oversee electrical installation, inspection, testing, and certification activities

    * Review and countersign electrical certificates and reports where required, ensuring compliance with NICEIC requirements, BS 7671 and applicable Building Regulations

    * Maintain accurate technical, certification, competence, and test equipment records, including calibration and condition of electrical testing equipment

    * Support the investigation of complaints and nonconformities, keep the company informed of regulatory and technical changes, and promote consistent standards of safety, workmanship, and compliance

    Essential Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications: Level 3 electrotechnical apprenticeship/NVQ or equivalent, AM2 or equivalent occupational competence assessment, current Requirements for Electrical Installations qualification, and City & Guilds 2391-52 (or equivalent) for inspection and testing.

Experience: Minimum two years’ responsibility for electrical installation work, with strong domestic experience in installation, inspection, testing, fault finding, and remedial works; previous Qualified Supervisor experience or willingness to undertake NICEIC assessment.

Technical competence: Proven ability to complete and review electrical certificates and condition reports, interpret drawings, specifications, and test results, and prepare technical reports, scopes, estimates, and quotations.

Regulatory knowledge: Thorough knowledge of current BS 7671, applicable Building Regulations, and requirements for notifiable domestic electrical work.

Professional requirements: Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout South Wales and participate in NICEIC assessments, surveillance visits, and periodic reassessments.

    Desirable Qualifications and Experience

Industry experience: Previous recognition as an NICEIC, NAPIT or equivalent Qualified Supervisor, with experience in residential refurbishment, property maintenance, or insurance reinstatement, including assessing electrical installations affected by fire, flood, or water damage.

Technical and management experience: Proven ability to prepare technical reports and estimates, manage projects independently from initial survey through to completion, and supervise electricians, apprentices, and subcontractors.

Compliance and qualifications: Experience establishing or maintaining an electrical Competent Person Scheme registration, with an ECS Gold Card and asbestos awareness training.

    Skills and Attributes

Technical competence: Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with a high standard of workmanship, attention to detail, and strong commitment to electrical safety, compliance and quality.

Communication and commercial awareness: Strong reporting, scoping and estimating skills, with the ability to explain technical findings clearly to customers and understand approved scopes, estimates and variations.

Professional approach: Highly organised, reliable and adaptable, able to manage multiple appointments, work independently with minimal supervision or as part of a multidisciplinary team, and maintain a professional, respectful and customer-focused approach in occupied homes
