How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Landscape Planning Director – Fully Remote

    Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 DOE + Benefits

    There are several Landscape Planner opportunities currently but one that offers genuinely interesting work, an excellent salary, supportive team and complete home-working flexibility, just don’t come along very often, and this Director-level position brings all 4 together.

    You’ll join a close-knit multidisciplinary environmental consultancy, working with considerable autonomy on an exciting and diverse portfolio of projects across the UK, and all without the time and expense of a daily commute.

    Fully remote doesn’t mean working in isolation. You will be attending regular scheduled meetings, along with additional meetings whenever required, to ensure the team remains connected, communication stays strong and everyone has the opportunity to collaborate and exchange ideas.

    The company

    The consultancy provides specialist services across landscape, heritage, archaeology, arboriculture and ecology. Its landscape team supports projects of varying scales within urban, semi-rural and rural settings and the portfolio includes residential development, renewable energy, historic landscapes and estates, and mixed-use commercial schemes. Although the company works nationally, candidates based in London or the South East would be particularly well placed, as a significant proportion of its current projects are within these areas.     The Landscape Planning Director role

    This is a senior appointment for an experienced Landscape Planner who can lead and deliver complex landscape planning work while providing technical oversight and support to the wider team. The successful candidate will take responsibility for preparing and reviewing high-quality landscape planning assessments, managing projects and maintaining trusted relationships with clients. There will also be opportunities to contribute to business development, prepare fee proposals and help shape the continued growth of the landscape team. The position is fully home-based, aside from the necessary attendance at site visits, client meetings, appeals and occasional team meetings.

    Landscape Planning Director Key responsibilities

    *

    Leading and delivering Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments and Townscape and Visual Impact Assessments

    *

    Undertaking site surveys, landscape analysis and appraisal work

    *

    Authoring landscape and visual chapters for Environmental Impact Assessments

    *

    Preparing appeal statements and supporting the delivery of planning appeals

    *

    Developing the confidence and experience required to act as an expert witness

    *

    Reviewing reports and providing technical quality assurance across the team

    *

    Managing projects, programmes, budgets and client expectations

    *

    Providing landscape planning advice informed by a strong understanding of planning policy and the wider planning process

    *

    Building and maintaining positive, long-term client relationships

    *

    Preparing commercially competitive fee proposals

    *

    Supporting and mentoring other members of the landscape team

    *

    Contributing to the consultancy’s ongoing growth and development

    Landscape Planning DIrector Essential experience

    *

    Chartered membership of the Landscape Institute

    *

    Substantial relevant post-qualification experience, ideally between 8-12 years

    *

    Strong consultancy experience gained predominantly within landscape planning

    *

    An excellent understanding of UK planning policy and the planning process

    *

    Demonstrable experience delivering LVIA and TVIA work

    *

    Experience authoring EIA landscape and visual chapters

    *

    Experience preparing appeal statements

    *

    Excellent written communication and report-writing skills

    *

    The ability to review technical work and provide effective quality assurance and sttrong client-facing, communication and relationship-management skills

    *

    Good project management and organisational ability along with commercial awareness and experience preparing successful fee proposals

    *

    GIS capability for landscape analysis

    *

    The ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively within a remote team, a full driving licence is also required

    Additional experience that would be beneficial

    *

    Business development and marketing experience

    *

    Preparation of landscape strategies and landscape masterplans

    *

    Experience delivering work through the Landscape Institute work stages up to planning

    *

    An interest in heritage sites, historic landscapes or country estates

    *

    Competence using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign

    *

    Basic working knowledge of AutoCAD or Vectorworks

    Salary and benefits

    A competitive salary between £60,000-£80,000 DOE + benefits package will be offered, reflecting the successful candidate’s experience, skills and level of responsibility. The company is open to considering experienced Landscape Planners operating at slightly different levels, so candidates are encouraged to discuss their current position and salary expectations during the interview process.
