How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Technical Sales Manager – Capital Equipment

    Location: Cheltenham
    Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 DOE
    Type: Permanent, Full-Time

    The Opportunity

Mploy Group is recruiting for an experienced Technical Sales Manager to join a growing UK engineering and manufacturing business specialising in technically advanced capital equipment.

This is a key commercial position with responsibility for managing the entire sales function, from incoming enquiries and existing customer relationships through to quotations, technical specifications, agents and new business development.

The company already has an established UK customer base of approximately 60 customers, providing a strong platform from which to develop further growth. A major part of the role will be maintaining these relationships, understanding future requirements and ensuring customers receive the right level of ongoing commercial and technical support.

Alongside the existing customer base, you will manage direct sales enquiries and work with an established network of sales agents and partners, helping progress opportunities from initial conversation through to order.

This is not simply a high-volume sales position. The equipment is technical and consultative in nature, so you will need to understand customer requirements, work with engineering teams and translate specifications into commercially viable solutions.

    Key Responsibilities

    *

Take day-to-day responsibility for the sales function and manage opportunities from initial enquiry through to order.

    *

Manage and develop relationships with an established base of approximately 60 UK customers.

    *

Maintain regular contact with existing customers, identifying future requirements and opportunities for additional equipment.

    *

Visit customer sites when required to understand applications, technical requirements and future projects.

    *

Manage direct inbound sales enquiries and ensure opportunities are followed up effectively.

    *

Develop new business opportunities within existing and target markets.

    *

Manage and support the company's network of sales agents and partners.

    *

Provide agents with the technical, commercial and quotation support required to progress opportunities.

    *

Prepare detailed quotations, proposals and commercial documentation for capital equipment projects.

    *

Work with customers to understand and develop technical specifications, ensuring requirements are clearly defined before handover.

    *

Collaborate closely with engineering, production and senior management to ensure proposed solutions are technically achievable and commercially viable.

    *

Manage pricing information and support the development of appropriate commercial strategies for individual opportunities.

    *

Maintain visibility of the sales pipeline, forecasts, prospects and upcoming customer projects.

    *

Support contract and order administration, including specifications, commercial terms, delivery requirements and customer communication.

    *

Maintain accurate customer, prospect and sales information within internal systems.

    *

Provide ongoing communication with customers throughout the sales process and support a smooth transition into project delivery.

    *

Monitor market activity, competitor developments, technology trends and potential commercial opportunities.

    *

Support wider sales and marketing activity including exhibitions, presentations, technical literature and customer communications.

    *

Work with senior management to develop the company's wider sales strategy and support continued business growth.

    About You

    *

Proven experience within technical sales, engineering sales or capital equipment sales.

    *

Experience selling machinery, automation, manufacturing equipment or other technically engineered solutions would be particularly relevant.

    *

Strong consultative sales skills with the ability to understand technical requirements and develop appropriate commercial solutions.

    *

Comfortable preparing quotations, proposals and working with technical specifications.

    *

Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to nurture long-term customer accounts.

    *

Commercially confident and comfortable taking ownership of opportunities throughout the complete sales cycle.

    *

Able to communicate effectively with customers, sales agents, engineers, production teams and senior management.

    *

Comfortable with customer visits across the UK when required, with occasional international travel possible.

    The Package

£50,000 – £60,000 depending on experience, plus benefits.

This is a particularly strong opportunity for someone who wants more than a traditional sales role and is looking to take genuine ownership of sales within an established and expanding technical business. Please apply with your up to date CV to find out more
