In-House Head of Corporate 7+ PQE
Central London - Hybrid
This is a rare opportunity to work as a senior member of the in-house legal team of a well-known international business based in central London. You will lead on corporate transactions across Europe, working with a small in-house team of corporate and commercial lawyers and external counsel.
We are looking for a highly capable and genuinely commercial-minded lawyer for our client. In this position you will exercise your broader corporate and M&A skills within a fast-moving business and with a high quality and interesting workload. Typical matters will include buy and sell side share and asset transactions, debt and equity investments and national and international JVs.
To be successful you will need the following skills and attributes:
- You must be a qualified lawyer in the UK or another comparable jurisdiction. Lawyers with less than 7 years PQE are unlikely to have acquired the experience needed, but if you are exceptional, please convince us!
- A strong technical legal background is a given and this is likely to have been gained with a leading practice, ideally with some in-house experience as well.
- You will need to have a good understanding of and exposure to a wide range of M&A and general corporate matters, with some cross-border experience being important.
- You will be working with senior-level internal stakeholders so you will need to have the ability to quickly win their confidence and respect.
- As an integral member of the in-house legal team, you will also need to be prepared to roll your sleeves up and support a broad range of other legal matters.
- Importantly, you will need to be a good fit; so as well as being charismatic and personable, you will also be highly motivated, client focused and will have a demonstrably commercial approach with plenty of initiative.
You will be a senior member of our client’s in-house legal team and will also be working closely with stakeholders at all levels across the business. You will be expected to deliver commercially successful outcomes which reflect the risk appetite of the business, while operating with a high degree of autonomy. While we are looking for someone who can handle a significant amount of the work themselves, where specialist legal support is required you will need to manage external law firms.
While this role may not always match the pace of a similar private practice role, it will inevitably involve some urgent work, challenging deadlines and will require regular re-assessment of priorities to match the requirements of the business. Some international travel will be involved; sometimes at short notice.
The position is open now and we are keen to identify the right person and get them in place as soon as possible. So if this resonates with you, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
