How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Real Estate Lawyer (Residential Development) | Top 50 UK Law Firm | City of London

This is an outstanding opportunity to join one of the UK's largest and most highly regarded Residential Development teams, working with many of the country's leading national housebuilders, regional developers and institutional landowners.

This role offers exposure to complex, high-value development projects across England and Wales, alongside exceptional career progression, market-leading training and a genuine pathway towards senior leadership and Partnership.

Whether you already advise housebuilders or have a strong commercial development background and are looking to transition into residential development, this is an opportunity to accelerate your career within a collaborative and nationally recognised team.

Joining a specialist Land Acquisition team, you will advise on a broad range of sophisticated residential development matters, acting for some of the biggest names in UK housebuilding as well as niche and regional developers.

    Your work will include:

    - Advising on complex and large-scale land acquisitions across England and Wales.

    - Negotiating and drafting collaboration agreements between developers.

    - Handling disposals of service parcels.

    - Advising on funding arrangements for residential developments.

    - Managing strategic land options and option agreements.

    - Supporting major urban regeneration projects.

    - Working closely with planning, construction and litigation specialists to deliver a seamless service to clients.

This is a role where you can focus on high-quality land acquisition work, supported by an established specialist plot sales team and a full-service property offering.

You'll become part of one of the largest Residential Development practices in the UK, comprising more than 200 specialists dedicated exclusively to the residential development sector.

The team advises the vast majority of the UK's leading housebuilders alongside promoters, institutional landowners and regional developers on projects ranging from strategic land acquisitions to developments delivering thousands of new homes.

The collaborative structure means you'll work alongside recognised experts across Real Estate, Planning, Construction and Litigation, gaining exposure to some of the most significant residential development projects in the market.

Applications are welcomed from Associate or Senior Associate level Solicitors with at least 5 years' post-qualification experience.

You will ideally have experience in:

    - Residential development or commercial development.

    - Land acquisition and development transactions.

    - Development agreements, conditional contracts and option agreements.

    - Joint ventures and collaboration agreements.

    - Strategic land matters.

Previous experience acting for housebuilder clients would be advantageous but is by no means essential. Commercial Real Estate Solicitors looking to specialise in residential development are strongly encouraged to apply.

    Most importantly, you will have:

    - A genuine interest in land acquisition and residential development.

    - Strong technical and commercial drafting skills.

    - Excellent client relationship and communication abilities.

    - The ambition to develop your career within a leading national practice.

This firm is renowned for investing heavily in the long-term development of its lawyers.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious solicitor seeking long-term career progression within a market-leading Real Estate practice.

Our client is committed to creating an inclusive working environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Applications are welcomed from candidates of all backgrounds, and flexible working arrangements are actively supported to promote a healthy work-life balance.

If you're a Real Estate Solicitor with 5+ years' PQE seeking a challenging and rewarding opportunity within residential development, we'd love to hear from you.
