This position would be particularly attractive to someone looking to take their first step from academia or an NHS research environment into industry. Candidates with clinical monitoring experience gained within academic, university, or hospital-based research settings are encouraged to apply. Due to the site-facing nature of the role, candidates must be based within the London area and willing to travel regularly to regional study sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct on-site and remote monitoring visits in accordance with study protocols, ICH-GCP, SOPs, and regulatory requirements.
- Perform Site Initiation Visits (SIVs), Interim Monitoring Visits (IMVs), and Close-Out Visits (COVs).
- Ensure patient safety, data integrity, and protocol compliance across assigned study sites.
- Complete source data verification (SDV) and review essential study documentation.
- Identify, document, and follow up on protocol deviations, site issues, and corrective actions.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with investigators and site personnel.
- Support site training and ensure study procedures are understood and followed.
- Prepare monitoring reports and maintain accurate trial documentation.
- Work closely with Clinical Trial Managers and cross-functional study teams.
- Support regulatory, ethics, and study start-up activities where required.
- Ensure studies are conducted in line with applicable regulations and company SOPs.
Requirements
- Minimum 12 months' clinical monitoring experience.
- Experience conducting on-site monitoring visits independently.
- Strong understanding of ICH-GCP, clinical trial regulations, and monitoring best practices.
- Experience gained within a CRO, pharmaceutical company, academic institution, NHS research environment, or healthcare setting.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with wider study teams.
- Full right to work in the UK.
- Must be based in the London area and willing to travel regularly to investigator sites.
Desirable
- Degree in Life Sciences, Nursing, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy, or a related discipline.
- Experience across Phase I-IV clinical trials.
- Exposure to oncology, rare disease, CNS, immunology, infectious disease, or other therapeutic areas.
- Previous experience working in an academic or NHS research setting.
