How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Corporate M&A practice of a leading international law firm in London, with a particular focus on Financial Institutions Group (FIG) transactions.

Working within a market-leading corporate team, you'll advise banks, insurers, asset managers, fintechs, payments businesses and other financial institutions on sophisticated domestic and cross-border transactions. The role offers exposure to complex public and private M&A, strategic investments, joint ventures, restructurings and private equity transactions across the financial services sector.

You'll work closely with specialists across financial regulation, antitrust, tax, finance and employment, gaining exposure to the regulatory and commercial considerations that sit at the heart of major FIG transactions. There will also be opportunities to broaden your experience across M&A mandates in other sectors and work with colleagues and clients internationally.

    Requirements

    • 2–5 years' PQE gained at a leading UK, U.S., Commonwealth or international law firm.

    • Strong Corporate M&A experience, ideally involving complex domestic and cross-border transactions.

    • Previous exposure to financial institutions, FIG transactions or financial regulatory matters would be advantageous but is not essential; candidates with strong general Corporate M&A experience and a genuine interest in developing FIG expertise are encouraged to apply.

    • An interest in advising banks, insurers, asset managers, fintechs and other businesses operating across the financial services sector.

    • Strong technical and commercial ability, with excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills.

    • Experience taking responsibility for transactions, coordinating multiple workstreams and working directly with sophisticated clients.

    • Ability to work collaboratively with specialists across regulatory and other practice areas on complex, often regulatorily sensitive transactions.

    • England & Wales qualified or an equivalent overseas/Commonwealth qualification. Lawyers qualified in jurisdictions such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore and other common law markets are encouraged to apply.

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a market-leading Corporate M&A practice and build specialist expertise in one of the most active and strategically important areas of the transactional market. You'll gain exposure to sophisticated cross-border FIG transactions, leading financial institutions and significant levels of responsibility, alongside excellent opportunities for international exposure and long-term career development.
