How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Senior Project Manager (HV Substations)

    Location: Didcot (Major Project in Lancaster)
    Salary: Competitive + Bonus + Car Allowance + 10% Matched Pension

    I'm recruiting on behalf of a leading infrastructure and energy business seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major GIS high-voltage substation project from concept through to commissioning.

    This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering critical power infrastructure that supports the UK's energy transition.

    The Role

    You'll take full responsibility for project delivery, ensuring performance against programme, budget, safety, quality, and contractual requirements.

    Key responsibilities include:

    Leading the delivery of a major HV substation project.
    Managing NEC4 contracts, change control, compensation events, and commercial performance.
    Overseeing construction activities and subcontractor management within HV environments.
    Driving programme delivery, cost control, risk management, and reporting.
    Acting as the primary interface between clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
    Promoting a strong health, safety, and environmental culture.

    About You

    You will have:

    Degree qualification in Engineering, Project Management, or similar.
    Proven experience delivering HV substation, transmission, or distribution projects.
    Strong NEC4 contract knowledge.
    Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
    Excellent programme, commercial, and stakeholder management skills.
    Strong commitment to safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
    Desirable: APM, PRINCE2, or PMP qualification, with a civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering background.
