How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

    Location: Central London

    The Opportunity: Are you an ambitious Mechanical Design Engineer looking to take the next step in your career with a forward-thinking, multi-disciplinary consultancy We at Skilled Careers are currently partnering with an award-winning building services consultancy based in Central London. They are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their dynamic team, focusing on high-profile commercial and mixed-use developments across the capital.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Lead the mechanical design process on complex commercial and mixed-use projects from concept through to detailed design.

    Produce sustainable and energy-efficient HVAC designs, ensuring compliance with UK building regulations and CIBSE guidelines.

    Coordinate seamlessly with electrical and public health engineers, as well as external architects and contractors.

    Mentor and support the development of junior and intermediate engineers within the team.

    Attend client meetings, conduct site surveys, and manage project deliverables within set deadlines.

    What You Need to Succeed:

    A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.

    A minimum of 5 years of UK-based consultancy experience, with a strong portfolio in commercial office fit-outs and mixed-use developments.

    Proficiency in Hevacomp, IES (desirable), and a solid understanding of Revit/BIM workflows.

    Chartered status (CEng) or actively working towards it.

    Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
