How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.

    Job description

    Mechanical-bias Shift Supervisor
    Client-Direct
    Kensington 
    "Days-Only" 12 hour Rotating Shift Pattern

    Our client are a leading institution, who self-deliver planned and reactive M&E services across their campus of buildings in the West London region. Due to an impending retirement within their shift engineering team, they seek a multi-skilled and mechanical bias Shift Supervisor to join their team, and working on a 12-hour "days only" shift pattern. Managing a team of multi-skilled engineers, reporting into Building Services Manager as well as Estate Directors, while also liaising with specialist 3rd party contractors. Guideline salary is between £52-58,000 basic, and has attractive benefits package which include over 20% pension, Overtime, training, etc. They also and quite uniquely within commercial FM provide extra annual leave over both Easter and Christmas. 

    Key Responsibilities
    • To manage and lead a Team of Maintenance Technicians carrying out planned and reactive maintenance duties to Mechanical, Electrical and Building Fabric assets
    • To assist and enhance service delivery through best practice and effective use of systems, equipment and processes
    • To develop and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements for works
    • To provide support and advice to other members of the Maintenance Teams and customers
    • To manage and control sub-contractors under appointment of the client

    General Maintenance Responsibilities
    • To provide technical advice to teams carrying out reactive and planned maintenance and repairs to Mechanical and Electrical equipment and all associated systems
    • To ensure all KPI’s are met with respect to reactive and planned tasks
    • To undertake a proactive approach in ensuring all plant and equipment is fully operational and fit for purpose
    • To provide support and advice to other stakeholders
    • To act as an exemplar for the Maintenance Department
    • To ensure company requirements are always met through continuous improvement and training on new systems and equipment
    • To ensure spares and equipment are procured on a timely basis to ensure minimal downtime of assets

    Additional Responsibilities
    • To undertake appropriate administrative tasks
    • To prepare and write reports as required
    • To attend relevant meetings
    • To provide support and advice to Capital Project Teams
    • To provide support and advice to other Property Division departments
    • To undertake any necessary training and/or development
    • To maintain safe workplace practices and procedures in accordance with the requirements of Health & Safety legislation
    • Management of sub-contractors ensuring they carry out work as per company requirements and procedures
    • Maintain spend within set budgets
    • To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of relevant statutory Health & Safety Legislation and recommendations and attend safety training as required

    Education & Training

    Candidates will have served a recognised apprenticeship and attained an appropriate technical qualification relevant to Building Services, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent demonstrable experience

    Experience of managing large technical multi skilled maintenance teams in a similar complex research environment setting, including sub-contractors
    Experience in building services with a proven track record in maintaining and repairing Electrical and/or Mechanical equipment and systems, related to building operations
    Proven experience in maintaining and repairing Electrical and/or Mechanical equipment and systems
    Experience in developing and reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements for works
    Experience in KPI environments
    Demonstrable experience of handling building fabric repairs and maintenance

    Knowledge of BMS systems to fault diagnostic level and experience of Trend would be an advantage
    An up-to-date knowledge of relevant statutory Health & Safety legislation and recommendations
    Ability to interpret drawings and manuals to fault find
    Knowledge of how to interpret HVCA SFG20 maintenance job plans
    Knowledge of Concept Evolution Facilities Management software
