How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

As a Damp & Timber Surveyor, you will be responsible for carrying out detailed property surveys, accurately identifying damp, timber and associated property defects, and recommending appropriate remedial solutions.

You will provide customers with clear, professional and honest advice, delivering an excellent service from the initial enquiry through to the completion of works.

As a key representative of our company, you will build strong relationships with customers while upholding the quality, reputation and values of our long-established family business.

    Key Responsibilities

You will carry out comprehensive surveys of residential and commercial properties, accurately identifying, diagnosing and assessing damp, timber and associated property defects. Where required, you will also assess waterproofing, below-ground damp and water ingress issues.

You will prepare clear, accurate and professional survey reports, specifications and recommendations, ensuring all findings are technically sound and in line with relevant industry standards and best practice. You will provide customers with honest, practical and professional advice, clearly explaining your findings and recommending appropriate remedial treatments and solutions.

A key part of the role will be building strong relationships with customers and delivering an exceptional customer experience. You will work closely with the office team and site operatives to ensure a smooth and professional service from the initial survey through to the completion of works.

You will manage your own workload effectively, including appointments, survey reports and follow-up activity. You will also maintain a high level of technical knowledge, keeping up to date with relevant industry developments, standards and best practices.

At all times, you will represent the company professionally and play an important role in protecting and maintaining the reputation our family business has built since 1959.

    Skills & Qualifications

We are looking for an experienced and technically capable surveyor with a strong background in the property preservation industry.

The successful candidate must hold CSRT – Certificated Surveyor in Remedial Treatment and CSSW – Certificated Surveyor in Structural Waterproofing qualifications, together with a full UK driving licence.

You will have proven experience in damp diagnosis, timber treatment and property preservation, with strong technical knowledge and the ability to accurately diagnose property defects. Experience of assessing waterproofing and below-ground damp or water ingress issues is essential.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, along with the ability to explain technical issues and recommendations clearly, confidently and professionally to customers. You will have strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to surveying and report writing.

You will be professional, honest and customer-focused, with excellent customer service skills and the ability to build trust and rapport. You must also be reliable, organised and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively.

    The Person We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who takes genuine pride in their work and understands that being an excellent surveyor is about more than simply identifying a problem.

You will have the confidence and technical ability to provide clear, accurate and well-considered recommendations while ensuring every customer receives an honest, professional and high-quality service.

You will take genuine pride in delivering excellent customer service and maintaining consistently high standards in everything you do. You will be able to communicate technical information clearly and professionally, building trust and lasting rapport with customers.

You will be reliable, organised and self-motivated, with a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to take ownership of your workload. You will also want to play an important role within a successful, long-established family business and share our commitment to quality, reputation and exceptional customer service.
