How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Logistics Porter / Trainee Service Technician
    North London, N19

Are you ready to embark on a career with a company that places both its employees and customers at the heart of everything we do? If you're a motivated, customer-focused individual with a can-do attitude, we want to hear from you.

You’ll fit in well with us at Medstrom, where we have disrupted the market by providing proven and well-evidenced products and services to our busy customers, helping to make a real difference to both their workload and, crucially, their patients’ outcomes.

We are looking for a dedicated Logistics Porter / Trainee Service Technician to be based at Whittington Hospital (Islington), with wider travel to Medstrom customers around the London area.

    The Benefits:

    - Competitive basic salary of £25,000 + London weighting (if living within M25)
    - Contributory pension scheme
    - 33 days’ annual leave allowance
    - Discounts and cashback on shopping, supermarkets, and holidays as part of our rewards scheme, along with other wellbeing benefits
    - Salary sacrifice schemes including Cycle to Work
    - Full induction with great training and support from dedicated team members
    - Receive a treat on your birthday
    - Death in service benefit available
    - Be a part of an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) and the associated benefits of having a stake in the company

    The Role:

As a Logistics Porter / Trainee Service Technician based at Whittington Hospital, you will ensure an effective and timely delivery and maintenance service to customers within the hospital. After training, this will include the set-up of products for patients within agreed delivery times, repair and proactive maintenance of products, and support at the delivery stage to customers in various clinical environments. This role follows our Career Pathway, with clearly defined training, experience, and knowledge to enable you to progress your career with Medstrom.

    Main responsibilities of the role:

    - Deliver clean, ready-to-use products around the hospital site
    - Collect products after use and return them to a central location
    - Disinfect, function-check, repair, and electrically safety-test products – full training will be given
    - Complete records of testing, delivery, and collection within our computerised system
    - Maintain available product stock and spare parts inventory
    - Complete product modifications when required
    - Provide product demonstrations and basic training to staff
    - Maintain a clean and tidy work environment

The role requires 37.5 hours per week, Tuesday to Saturday, 9am – 5pm.

    About You:

To join us as a Logistics Porter / Trainee Service Technician, ideally, you will need to have or be willing to develop the following skills:

    - Mechanical or electrical background desirable, but not essential, as full training will be provided
    - Experience working within a healthcare setting is desirable
    - Knowledge of Medstrom and/or other medical device manufacturers’ products would be desirable, but not essential
    - A full, valid UK driving licence

    Personal Requirements:

    - A proactive, ‘can-do’ attitude
    - Excellent customer service skills
    - The ability to communicate effectively
    - The ability to work under your own initiative and follow procedures laid out by the business to achieve deadlines
    - Basic knowledge of hygiene and safety rules
    - Basic PC skills, including email and MS Office
    - The willingness to have a DBS completed

This role will involve manual handling – lifting, carrying, and loading products.

    Why join Medstrom?

Established in 2010, Medstrom has grown substantially by being patient-focused to become the organisation we are today, whilst maintaining an open culture and ethos. In 2022, Medstrom became an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), unlike any other company in the industry. This allows each employee to have a vested interest in the company, where we can all contribute to and share in the company’s success.

In addition to the salary and related benefits, you will join a company that has grown extensively within the last five years and, through a unique ownership model, is continuing to grow, whilst offering great career opportunities for those who are keen to progress.

Webrecruit and Medstrom are equal opportunities employers, value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment. Equal opportunities are the only acceptable way to conduct business, and we believe that the more inclusive our environments are, the better our work will be.

Medstrom operates a zero-tolerance policy to any harassment of any kind towards colleagues
