How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Salary: Up to £50,(Apply online only) per year
    Monday to Friday | Full-Time

    We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Fitter to join our team as a Field Service Engineer, covering Devon and Cornwall.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working on the road and has experience installing, maintaining and repairing machinery within manufacturing and food manufacturing environments.

    The Role

    You will travel to customer sites across Devon and Cornwall, including food factories and manufacturing facilities, carrying out a range of mechanical engineering duties, including:

    Installing and commissioning machinery and equipment
    Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs
    Planned and reactive maintenance
    Servicing and maintaining manufacturing machinery
    Working within food manufacturing environments
    Working directly with customers on site
    Ensuring machinery is operating safely and efficiently
    Food Safety Requirement

    As the role involves working inside food manufacturing facilities, candidates will need to hold a Level 2 Food Safety / Food Hygiene Certificate.

    Don't have one? No problem — full training will be provided. The course is approximately 3 hours and will be provided to ensure you are fully qualified to work safely within food production environments.

    What We're Looking For

    Previous experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Fitter, Field Service Engineer or similar
    Experience working with machinery in a manufacturing, production or food manufacturing environment
    Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
    Experience with machinery installation and maintenance
    Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
    Own tools required
    Full UK driving licence
    Willingness to travel throughout Devon and Cornwall
    Level 2 Food Safety/Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to complete the training provided
