How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Interaction Engineering

CNC Turner – Setter / Operator / Programmer

    Location: PE28
    Salary: Dependent on experience
    Job Type: Permanent / Full-time

Our engineering client is looking for an experienced CNC Turner – Setter, Operator & Programmer to join their team based in the PE28 area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Turner who is confident with setting, operating and programming CNC turning machinery and is looking for a role where their experience and technical ability will be valued.

We are looking for someone who can work confidently and independently, producing quality components from engineering drawings while maintaining high standards throughout the machining process.

    The Role

As a CNC Turner, you will be responsible for setting and operating CNC turning machinery, programming and making programme adjustments, and ensuring components are produced accurately and efficiently.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Setting CNC turning machines

Operating CNC lathes safely and efficiently

    Programming CNC machines

Editing and adjusting existing programmes where required

    Working with Haas controls

    Selecting and setting appropriate tooling

Setting tool offsets and making adjustments during production

    Reading and interpreting engineering drawings

Working to specified dimensions and tolerances

Carrying out first-off and in-process inspection

Measuring finished components using appropriate inspection equipment

    Identifying and resolving machining issues

Making adjustments to tooling, offsets, speeds and feeds where necessary

    Maintaining consistent quality throughout production

Working to production schedules and deadlines

Keeping the work area clean, safe and organised

    The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced CNC Turner who has a strong practical understanding of machining and is comfortable taking a component from drawing through to finished part.

The successful candidate will ideally have experience across setting, operating and programming, rather than being purely an operator.

Experience with Haas controls is particularly desirable.

You should be able to work from engineering drawings, understand tolerances and machining requirements, and have a good understanding of tooling and cutting conditions.

The ability to work independently is important, as is having a methodical approach to producing accurate, high-quality components.

    Experience & Skills

    Ideally, you will have:

Previous experience as a CNC Turner

    Strong CNC setting experience

    CNC operating experience

    CNC programming experience

    Experience using Haas controls

Good knowledge of CNC turning processes

Ability to read and understand engineering drawings

Good understanding of tolerances and machining requirements

    Experience setting tooling and offsets

Ability to make programme adjustments and optimise machining processes

    Experience using measuring equipment

A strong eye for detail and quality

    Good problem-solving skills

Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

    Programming Experience

Programming ability is an important part of this position.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable making programme changes and, ideally, creating programmes where required rather than simply loading and running existing programmes.

The exact level of programming experience will be considered alongside your overall machining background, so if you are particularly strong in setting and programming and have extensive CNC turning experience, we would like to hear from you.

    The Company

RNJ Fabrications is an established engineering and fabrication business based in the PE28 area, working on a range of engineering and manufacturing requirements.

This is an opportunity to join a practical engineering environment where your machining experience and technical ability can make a real difference.

The role would suit an experienced CNC Turner who enjoys hands-on machining, takes pride in their work and wants to be part of a skilled engineering team.

    Salary & Benefits

Salary is dependent on experience and skill level.

The company is prepared to recognise candidates who bring strong setting and programming experience, particularly those who can work independently and produce high-quality components with minimal supervision.

Further details regarding salary, overtime and the overall package will be discussed with suitable candidates.

    Interested?

If you're an experienced CNC Turner / Setter / Operator / Programmer with Haas control experience and are looking for a new opportunity in the PE28 area, we'd like to hear from you.
