How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Systems Engineer – Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

    Derby
    12-Month Contract
    £35 per hour
    Outside IR35
    On-Site

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Systems Engineer with a strong background in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to join a major engineering programme based in Derby.

    This is a 12-month contract opportunity working across complex engineering systems, supporting requirements, system architecture, modelling, integration, verification and validation activities.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Lead systems engineering activities across the full engineering lifecycle

    * Develop and maintain system requirements and architectures

    * Carry out requirements analysis, decomposition, allocation and traceability

    * Develop MBSE models using SysML

    * Create functional, physical, behavioural and interface models

    * Define system architectures and interface specifications

    * Support system integration, verification and validation activities

    * Maintain requirements traceability and digital continuity

    * Carry out trade studies and technical analysis

    * Support engineering reviews including SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR and PRR

    * Identify technical risks and support mitigation activities

    * Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams

    Experience Required:

    * Strong Systems Engineering experience within complex engineering programmes

    * Previous experience applying MBSE methodologies

    * Good working knowledge of SysML

    * Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler / MagicDraw, Enterprise Architect or Capella

    * Experience with requirements management tools such as DOORS, DOORS Next, Jama or Polarion

    * Strong understanding of requirements management and traceability

    * Knowledge of system architecture and interface management

    * Experience with verification and validation planning

    * Understanding of systems engineering lifecycle processes

    * Degree in Systems, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline is desirable

    Previous experience within aerospace, defence or another highly regulated engineering environment would be advantageous.

    Contract: 12 months
    Rate: £35 per hour
    IR35: Outside IR35
    Location: Derby – On-Site
