How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Excellent opportunity for an experienced Water Utilities professional with a background in mains laying, service laying and clean water distribution to move into a training role where you can use your industry knowledge to develop the next generation of utility professionals.

This organisation is one of the UK's leading technical training providers, delivering specialist training across the energy, engineering and safety-critical sectors. Operating as part of a global training organisation across 60 countries, they combine industry expertise with modern training facilities and technology to develop workforces across oil & gas, wind, power and the wider utilities sectors, including gas, electric and water.

In this role, you will deliver practical and classroom-based training and assessment with a primary focus on mains water installation, water service laying and associated water utility qualifications. You will train and assess candidates against awarding organisation standards, as well as supporting water utility apprentices through their programmes. The position is predominantly based in Manchester, with some travel to other training locations and customer sites.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years' experience within the utilities sector, with strong experience in water networks and clean water distribution. You will have practical knowledge of mains laying, service laying, network construction and repair techniques alongside relevant industry qualifications. Previous training experience is beneficial, but the organisation is primarily interested in your industry knowledge and can support the right candidate with further teaching and assessor development.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Water Utilities professional looking to step away from working on the tools without leaving the industry, moving into a stable Monday-to-Friday position where you can pass on your experience, continue developing professionally and play a key role in training the future workforce of the water industry.

*Train candidates in mains water installation and water service laying
*Deliver training covering network construction, safe systems of work and industry best practice
*Assess candidates against awarding organisation standards
*Support water utility apprentices with training, assessment and progression
*Predominantly based in Manchester with some travel to customer sites and other training locations
    *Monday-Friday, 40-hour working week
*Standard hours of 7:30am-4:00pm or 8:00am-4:30pm
*Further professional, teaching and assessor development

    The Person:

*Minimum 5 years' experience within the Utilities sector
*Strong background in water networks and clean water distribution
*Experience in mains water installation and service laying
*Level 1 Certificate in Network Construction Operations (Water)
