How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Strong academic results can take you in many directions after university. If teaching or a career centred on children is one of the paths you’re considering, schools across Blackheath are recruiting Graduate Teaching Assistants for September. JobsinED is looking for intelligent, enthusiastic graduates who want a full academic year of genuine school experience rather than a short placement or occasional volunteering. Experience with children is welcomed, but it isn't a prerequisite for graduates who can demonstrate the right academic calibre, communication skills and commitment.

The Graduate Teaching Assistant positions we are recruiting for provide regular contact with pupils and experienced education professionals. You’ll see how teachers turn subject knowledge into effective learning, understand how individual needs are supported and become increasingly confident taking responsibility for pupils and small groups. It is particularly useful preparation for graduates considering teaching, educational psychology, SEND, speech and language therapy or further study related to child development.

    Key Highlights

    * Graduate Teaching Assistant roles available across Blackheath

    * Receive £95–£110 per day, dependent on experience

    * Begin in September 2026 and continue through to July 2027

    * Join on a full-time, long-term, term-time basis

    * Explore a career working with children before committing to postgraduate training

    * Gain sustained school experience rather than a short-term placement

    * Access opportunities aimed specifically at high-achieving graduates

    What You'll Be Doing

    * Assist pupils who require additional explanation or encouragement during learning

    * Guide individuals and small groups through focused academic activities

    * Reinforce concepts introduced by teachers and check pupils' understanding

    * Monitor engagement and communicate useful observations to teaching staff

    * Create and organise resources for lessons and intervention sessions

    * Foster positive relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries

Ideal Candidate for Schools in Blackheath

    * Holds a university degree, ideally at First or 2:1 level

    * Shows evidence of strong academic achievement at school and university

    * Intends to explore teaching or another professional career involving children

    * Communicates confidently and can explain ideas in a clear, approachable way

    * Demonstrates previous experience with young people where available, though this is desirable rather than essential

    * Approaches a full academic-year commitment with reliability and maturity

    Why Join Schools Across Blackheath?

    * Test your interest in education through substantial day-to-day experience

    * Learn directly from teachers rather than relying solely on observation or occasional volunteering

    * Develop evidence of working with children that can support competitive postgraduate applications

    * Understand pupil development, learning and behaviour through regular practical involvement

    * Enjoy a sought-after South East London location with convenient connections to Greenwich and central London

    * Establish professional references and experience that can strengthen your next career move

    How to Apply

Applications are being considered ahead of September, with JobsinED matching strong graduates to suitable opportunities across Blackheath. Apply directly through this listing with your CV to begin the process.

Becoming a Graduate Teaching Assistant gives you time to understand education properly before deciding on your next step. For graduates serious about a child-focused profession, that depth of experience can be particularly valuable
