How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Core Maker - Stourbridge

    £14.50 - £21.75 per hour + overtime

    Permanent | Days 05:00-13:00 | Overtime available until 17:00

Training period: 17:00-03:00, Monday-Friday for approximately 3 months

A great opportunity to learn a specialist machine and build a long-term career

We're looking for a reliable, hardworking Factory Operative / Core Maker to join a well-established foundry in Stourbridge.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with good manufacturing or factory experience who wants to learn a specialist machine and develop their skills within a supportive foundry environment.

You don't necessarily need previous Laempe or Omega experience. If you understand manufacturing, are comfortable working around machinery and have the right attitude to learn, the company will provide the training you need.

    The role

You'll be working within the core-making department, learning to operate Laempe / Omega core-making equipment and producing quality sand cores ready for the casting process.

    Your responsibilities will include:

Operating core-making machinery safely and efficiently.
Producing high-quality sand cores to the required specification.
Learning and carrying out the cold box core-blowing process.
    Monitoring machinery and production processes.
Inspecting cores for defects and maintaining quality standards.
Maintaining good production rates and cycle times.
Handling moulding boxes, cores and associated foundry equipment.
Identifying and reporting quality, process or equipment issues.
Keeping the working area clean, safe and organised.
Following all health & safety and production procedures.

    What we're looking for

We're particularly interested in people with:

Previous factory, manufacturing or foundry experience.
    Good practical and mechanical awareness.
Experience operating production machinery would be advantageous.
A good understanding of manufacturing processes.
Strong attention to detail and quality.
    A reliable and hardworking approach.
The ability to follow instructions and learn new processes.
A good attitude towards working as part of a team.
A genuine interest in learning a specialist machine.Previous Core Maker, Laempe or Omega experience is advantageous but not essential.

If you're an experienced Factory Operative with good manufacturing knowledge and the right attitude, we'd be happy to train you.

    The training shift - important

The successful candidate will initially complete their training on 17:00-03:00 Monday-Friday.

This is only for the training period, expected to be around 3 months.

The reason for the night training is to give you dedicated time and support to learn the machinery and core-making process properly.

Once you have completed your training, you will move onto the permanent day shift of 05:00-13:00.

Overtime is available, with the opportunity to work until 17:00 when required.

So, if you're happy to commit to the temporary night training period, the long-term role is a day-shift position.

    Why join?

This is a foundry that genuinely puts its people first.

You'll be joining an experienced and supportive team where you'll be given the time to learn the operation properly. The company values reliability, hard work and experience, and will invest in someone who wants to develop.

    You'll have the opportunity to:

Learn specialist Laempe / Omega machinery.
Develop your foundry and manufacturing skills.
    Work alongside an experienced team.
    Build a long-term career within a well-established business.
Move onto a permanent day shift following training.
    Earn additional money through overtime.
