How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Project Engineer

Location: Midlands (initial project based in Wiltshire)
    Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

    The Company

We are a Midlands-based, market-leading Construction M&E Contractor with a strong reputation for technical excellence, collaborative delivery, and a people-first culture. Our projects span the Midlands and South, primarily within the Education and Ministry of Justice sectors.

We are proud of our supportive, team-oriented environment and our commitment to developing and looking after our people. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a talented Mechanical Project Engineer to join our team.

    The Role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer to oversee a key project in Wiltshire, with future work expected across the Midlands and South.

You will play a crucial role in ensuring the successful technical and commercial delivery of mechanical packages on complex projects, maintaining our high standards of safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

    Key Responsibilities

Oversee the mechanical installation and commissioning process from pre-construction through to handover

Coordinate with design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers

Review and manage technical drawings, specifications, and submittals

Monitor project progress, budgets, and programme milestones

Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company standards

Attend and lead site meetings with clients and stakeholders

Support procurement activities and manage subcontractor performance

Assist in managing project documentation and reporting

    Requirements

Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Engineer within an M&E or main contracting environment

Strong knowledge of mechanical building services (HVAC, pipework, plant rooms, etc.)

Experience delivering projects within Education, MoJ, healthcare, or similarly regulated sectors is advantageous

Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project financials

    Excellent communication and coordination skills

Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider project team

Relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (HNC/HND/Degree preferred)

    CSCS card (relevant level)

Security clearance (or willingness and eligibility to obtain it) is highly desirable

    What We Offer

    Competitive salary and benefits package

Clear progression pathway within a growing, respected contractor

Long-term project pipeline across the Midlands and South

Supportive leadership and strong team culture

Investment in professional development and training

A business genuinely committed to employee wellbeing and career longevity

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven Mechanical Project Engineer to join a forward-thinking contractor with a secure order book and a reputation for delivering high-quality projects in highly regulated environments.

If you are looking for a long-term career move with a company that values its people as much as its performance, we would love to hear from you
