How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Due to continued growth, Denholm Industrial Services is recruiting an experienced Marine Dockyard Electrician to support electrical installation, maintenance, fault-finding and commissioning activities within a busy marine dockyard environment.

    This is an excellent opportunity to secure a permanent position with a growing engineering business, working on a wide range of marine vessels, dockyard equipment and electrical systems.

    The Role

    You’ll be responsible for:

    * Electrical installation, maintenance and repair within a marine dockyard

    * Fault-finding and diagnostics on electrical systems and equipment

    * Carrying out electrical work within DSEAR controlled and potentially explosive atmospheres, including work on Ex rated equipment and installations

    * Testing, inspection and commissioning of electrical installations

    * Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical drawings

    * Working on marine vessels, dockside equipment, machinery and associated systems

    * Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance

    * Ensuring all work is completed safely and to the required standards

    We’re Looking For

    Recognised Electrical Apprenticeship / NVQ / City & Guilds qualification or equivalent

    Demonstrable experience working with electrical equipment within hazardous or potentially explosive environments

    Good working knowledge of DSEAR principles, hazardous area controls and ignition source management

    Familiarity with Ex rated electrical equipment, associated installation requirements and hazardous area working practices

    Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills

    Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics

    Previous marine, dockyard, shipyard, industrial or engineering experience

    Good understanding of electrical safety and safe working practices

    Full UK Driving Licence

    Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team

    Desirable

    Marine electrical experience

    Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification, BS 7671

    City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification, or equivalent

    Current CompEx Ex01 to Ex04 certification

    Current CompEx Ex05 & Ex06 certification

    Previous experience installing, maintaining or inspecting Ex electrical equipment

    Experience working within Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas

    Experience with motors, drives, control panels and electrical distribution systems

    Experience working on vessels or dockyard infrastructure

    HV/LV switching or electrical authorisation experience

    Confined Space / Working at Height

    Relevant marine or industrial safety qualifications

    Candidates who do not currently hold CompEx may still be considered, provided they can demonstrate suitable previous hazardous area electrical experience and a sound working knowledge of DSEAR and explosive atmosphere requirements. CompEx training may be provided to suitable candidates as part of their continued development.
