How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Graduate Electrical Engineer – Building Services
    Cambridge
    £25,000 – £30,000

An established, independent building services consultancy is looking for a Graduate Electrical Engineer to join their growing team, working on a varied portfolio of projects across the commercial, education, healthcare and residential sectors.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone at the start of their career to develop within a supportive, close-knit SME environment, gaining hands-on exposure to real projects from day one rather than being lost in a large corporate structure. You'll work alongside experienced engineers who are genuinely invested in your development, with a clear path towards Chartership.

    About the role:

You'll assist in the design and specification of electrical building services systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and small power installations, working across the full project lifecycle from concept through to completion. You'll have the chance to develop your technical skills using industry-standard design software, and build your understanding of current regulations and best practice.

    What we're looking for:

A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline (a Master's would be an advantage but is not essential)
Some existing understanding of, or genuine interest in, building services engineering
A proactive, curious approach and willingness to learn
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
Able to commute into the Cambridge officeWhat's on offer:

Structured mentoring and support towards professional Chartership
Exposure to a broad range of interesting, technically varied projects
A collaborative, down-to-earth working culture where your contribution is genuinely valued
Clear progression opportunities as part of a growing SMEIf you're a recent graduate looking to kick-start your career in building services with a firm that invests properly in its people, this could be the perfect next step.
