How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are seeking a Digital Content Producer based in Ipswich, Suffolk. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will earn a competitive salary of £31,537 - £36,363 per annum.

This role is open to full time, part time, and job share applications, all of which will be assessed equally.

    Join our team

We are looking for an experienced Digital Content Producer to join our Communications Team.

The successful person will share our values, commitment, and motivation to make a difference for our residents and communities.

    About the role

You will work with the Communications Team to create digital content promoting Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils’ work, priorities and campaigns – keeping a range of different audiences informed.

This role will focus on the creation of brilliant and engaging content for our social media channels, website and internal communications. This will include taking pictures and shooting video, working alongside the communications team to plan content.

You will use different digital media platforms; analytics will help guide decision-making, and you will ensure we are producing content which can reach different audiences.

    About you

We are looking for a Digital Content Producer with a proven track record of delivering engaging video and pictures for a business or organisation.

You will have a clear understanding of what makes good content, be creative and have a genuine interest in social media and its changing trends.

You will show an awareness of the types of content that a local authority could and should be sharing with residents and staff – including how to make it accessible and engaging.

You should be confident with good communication and IT skills, be politically aware, and be prepared to lead the discussions on the types of content we should produce.

You will need to hold a full UK driving licence as this role requires frequent travel around our districts, sometimes in rural locations.

    About us

At Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils we are passionate about building communities that people want to live, work, visit and invest in.

We serve around 200,000 residents across our two districts and are well known for our collaboration and partnership working across public, private and voluntary sectors.

We believe that the heart of Suffolk is an incredibly special place to live and work, with:

    60 conservation areas

    two National Landscapes

    many picturesque market towns

It is no surprise we are ranked among the top 50 places to live in the UK.

    Employee Benefits

We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:

Generous leave entitlement (26 days a year, rising to 31 days after 5 years).

    Competitive Local Government Pension Scheme.

Wellbeing Support and Employee Assistance Programs.

    Private Health Care Options.

    Electric Vehicle Salary Sacrifice Scheme.

    Paid volunteering days.

Flexible and hybrid working arrangements (Business needs permitting).

    Great learning and development opportunities.

    Closing date: 5pm, 7 September 2026

If you think you have what it takes to be successful in this Digital Content Producer role, even if you don’t meet all the requirements, please apply. We would appreciate the opportunity to consider your application.

This authority is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS checks or police vetting will be required for relevant posts
