How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    High Risk/Retail Food

    Newcastle, Tyne & Wear, North-East

Are you tired of the shackles of corporate life and ready for a career move where you can flourish, have complete freedom and autonomy to do the right thing Technically?

And, are you excited by the thought of building up a Technical department within an entrepreneurial culture with ambitious plans, that is experiencing investment and high growth at pace?

This food enterprise is at a pivotal time in its lifecycle, particularly within its retail business.  We are now looking for a Technical Manager to lead and build the Technical function in line with the challenges presented in a fast-growing, high-risk operation.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, this career opportunity offers you the opportunity to progress and develop your career as you build and develop the Technical team, standards and systems, as well as making a genuine positive impact in a flourishing food business.

This is a key appointment for this aspirational business, where your ideas will be heard, your leadership will make a lasting difference, and you’ll have the opportunity to build something exceptional – a blueprint for further organisational growth.

If you thrive on challenge, enjoy leading change and want to be part of shaping the future of a growing food manufacturing business, then read on ..

    The role

As the Technical expert in the business, you are the business lead in everything Quality and Technical.  You will work alongside the senior leadership team to ensure the factory consistently delivers safe, legal and high-quality food ranges, whilst developing the systems, people and culture needed for long-term success.

This is a diverse role, and you will be wearing many hats.

You’ll spend as much time coaching people on the factory floor, evolving the quality agenda, as you will reviewing performance data, preparing for customer visits or developing Technical strategy and process.

    About You

Essentially, you must evidence a strong and consistent Quality and Technical performance track record in the food industry.  This must be in high-risk food manufacturing, supplying retailer customers.

You must also have experience of working on and working with the major retailers – familiar with retailer standards, protocols and systems.  This is key to the role.

This is a role for someone who enjoys balancing strategic thinking with hands-on leadership, and is equally as happy on the factory floor, as in the Boardroom.

Equally comfortable in front of the the customer, supplier, and having the difficult conversation when required.

Exceptional recent working knowledge of BRCGS, HACCP and retailers is essential.  Also key to this is experience of audits and regulatory inspections.
Team growth and development is high on the agenda, and so a passion for developing people and building high-performing teams with strong technical values, as well as driving technical-centric organisational cultures.

Commercial awareness and the confidence to influence and guide senior stakeholders are also important, as is your ability to work at pace and remain calm and resilient under pressure.

A little more about you ..

This would suit an experienced Technical Manager, who has the gravitas and experience to deliver the Technical agenda; or, if  you have an accomplished Quality and Technical performance track record in the food industry, you are highly driven and ambitious, and feel more than ready to take the next step in your career, into your first Lead role.

This will appeal to you in you enjoy raising standards, developing people, improving systems and working alongside the site leadership team, creating a culture where food and quality values are the highest priority.

If you are interested in joining a business where your expertise will genuinely shape the future, you can lead technical excellence, influence strategic business decisions and drive meaningful change – then we would love to hear from you.
