How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Vacancy

    We have introduced a new team at Chime Housing! The Healthy Homes Team has been created to identify, assess and address Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) hazards, including but not limited to damp and mould. Working alongside surveyors, you’ll deliver a range of remedial and repair works that help create safer, healthier living environments for our customers. We are looking for a skilled and customer-focused operative to join the team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll carry out a wide range of repairs playing a key part in treating and preventing hazards, including damp and mould issues in our homes. You’ll work closely with surveyors and colleagues to deliver high-quality, right-first-time repairs that improve living conditions and keep residents safe, warm and dry.

    Introduction to the role

    At Chime Housing, we’re committed to providing safe, high-quality homes where people can thrive. As a Multi-Skilled Operative, you’ll be at the heart of our service—working directly in customers’ homes to resolve issues, improve conditions, and deliver excellent workmanship. With a particular focus on Housing Healthy and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) hazards, you’ll help us tackle one of the most important challenges in housing today.

    Role purpose

    To deliver high-quality repairs and remedial works with the primary focus on damp and mould treatment and prevention while also undertaking repairs required to remove or mitigate Housing Healthy and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) hazards. The role supports compliance with Awaab’s Law and wider housing health and safety obligations, ensuring high standards of safety, quality and customer satisfaction.

    What’s the role?

    Key Accountabilities:

    * Carry out a wide range of repairs, maintenance and remedial works, with a primary focus on damp and mould treatment and prevention, alongside repairs required to address HHSRS hazards and improve the overall condition of customer’ homes.

    * Deliver “right first time” repairs, ensuring all work is completed, finished and left clean and tidy.

    * Work within scheduled appointments, maintaining excellent communication and customer service at all times.

    What are we looking for?

    Essential:

    * Experience: Experience in repairs and maintenance, with the ability to carry out a range of trade tasks and experience working with damp and mould treatment or remediation.

    * Knowledge: Understanding of damp and mould causes and treatments, building maintenance, and basic health and safety practices.

    * Skills & Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and a commitment to delivering high-quality, customer-focused services.

    * Qualifications: Full UK driving licence and relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience.

    Desirable:

    * Multi-trade skills across disciplines such as carpentry, plumbing, or plastering.

    * Experience working within social housing or a customer-focused repairs environment.

    * Awareness of housing standards, HHSRS or related compliance frameworks.

    What can we offer you?

    * 28 days’ annual leave (pro rata)

    * Employer pension contribution of up to 11%

    * Development opportunities

    * Comprehensive employee rewards scheme
