A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join its Manchester team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious engineer looking for greater responsibility, technical variety and the chance to play a key role in delivering major development projects.
Our client works across a broad range of sectors, delivering civil engineering solutions from initial concept and planning through to detailed design and construction. Projects can include major developments involving highways, drainage, earthworks, utilities, SuDS, flood mitigation and associated infrastructure.
The successful Senior Civil Engineer will take responsibility for the design and coordination of civil engineering schemes, while working closely with clients, architects, project managers and other technical disciplines.
Key responsibilities will include leading civil engineering projects and coordinating project teams, designing highways, drainage and infrastructure for major development schemes, preparing drainage strategies, Flood Risk Assessments and planning-stage technical information. You will also undertake site visits and carry out technical assessments, resolving engineering challenges.
A key strength will be your ability to mentor, support and provide technical guidance to junior engineers within the team.
Candidates should have solid UK civil engineering design experience, ideally gained within a multidisciplinary consultancy environment. A relevant engineering degree is expected, with Chartered Engineer status or a clear ambition to achieve chartership highly desirable.
Strong technical capability is essential, including experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D, together with good knowledge of InfoDrainage, drainage and SuDS design, earthworks and cut-and-fill assessments.
A good understanding of relevant standards and legislation, including DMRB, British Standards, Building Regulations and BIM, is also required. Experience taking projects from concept through to construction, combined with confidence in dealing directly with clients and statutory authorities, will be important.
