How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Senior / Principal Construction Planner – MEH / MEP

    Somerset | £75,000 to £95,000 + additional site attendance bonus/uplift | Permanent

We are recruiting for several senior-level construction planning opportunities supporting a major complex engineering and construction environment in Somerset.

The roles are focused on detailed construction planning across mechanical, electrical and HVAC packages with opportunities available for planners from different discipline backgrounds and levels of seniority.

You will need to be comfortable working on site around three to four days per week.

What you will be working on

Depending on your background and level, responsibilities may include:

Developing and maintaining detailed construction schedules using Primavera P6
Planning installation, testing and commissioning activities across MEH or MEP packages
Creating resource-loaded schedules and optimised construction sequences
Managing schedule baselines, progress updates and forecasts
Integrating contractor and package programmes into wider project schedules
Identifying interfaces, sequencing issues and programme risks
Developing scenario schedules to assess potential impacts on delivery
Supporting 4D planning and digital construction activity where relevant
    Different opportunities within the team

The vacancies cover Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC planning backgrounds.

Some positions are focused on experienced Principal Construction Planners with strong major-project construction planning experience.

The most senior Lead Planner opportunities require direct nuclear experience within Mechanical, Electrical or HVAC delivery together with the ability to lead and challenge planning across complex construction programmes.

For the wider Principal opportunities, relevant experience may come from nuclear or other complex sectors such as energy, defence, major infrastructure, data centres, life sciences or large-scale industrial construction.

    What we are looking for

Strong candidates are likely to demonstrate:

Hands-on construction planning and scheduling experience
Good working knowledge of Primavera P6
Experience creating, maintaining and updating detailed construction schedules
Understanding of construction sequencing, installation and programme interfaces
Experience working across multiple contractors, packages or work fronts
Strong stakeholder communication and the confidence to challenge schedule logic
Understanding of progress measurement, forecasting, baselines and change
Willingness and ability to attend site in Somerset three to four days per week
Experience of NEC, JCT or bespoke construction contracts would be useful. Exposure to 4D planning, BIM-linked scheduling or high-security environments would also strengthen your application.

    Permanent and contract opportunities

These positions are being advertised primarily as permanent opportunities with salaries from £75,000 to £95,000 per annum depending on experience and level.

An additional payment is available in relation to regular site attendance with full details discussed during the recruitment process.

Due to the security requirements of the permanent positions, applicants must hold sole British nationality and be able to meet the relevant security clearance requirements.

Some opportunities may also be considered on a contract basis. Contract candidates can be considered where they hold the appropriate right to work in the UK and bring strong experience across the essential planning areas together with relevant contract management experience or 4D planning capability. Contract candidates must also be able to meet the required site attendance in Somerset.

Full project and client details will be discussed with suitable candidates during the recruitment process.

If your background is in senior construction planning across Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, MEH or MEP delivery and you would like to discuss which of the opportunities best fits your experience, please apply
