How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Controls Systems Engineer (Manufacturing / Diagnostics)

    Peterlee, County Durham

    £46.10 - £49.10 per hour (Umbrella / Inside IR35) + 12 Month Contract + Likely Extension + Early Friday Finish + Industry Leading Company

    Are you a Controls Systems Engineer with experience of industrial control systems, CAN Bus diagnostics, or embedded controls, looking for an exciting long-term contract with a world-renowned manufacturer?

    This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly skilled team within a leading engineering business, supporting cutting-edge machine technologies and future product developments. You will play a key role in improving production quality, solving complex technical problems, and supporting the introduction of advanced control systems.

    The company are a globally recognised manufacturer and market leader within heavy equipment engineering, investing heavily in future technologies, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

    In this role you will provide software and controls support across manufacturing operations, diagnose and resolve control system issues, support machine commissioning and calibration activities, and work closely with production and maintenance teams to drive improvements. You will utilise tools such as CAN Bus diagnostics, CANalyzer and CANape to analyse system performance and support validation activities.

    This role would suit a Controls Systems Engineer with experience in manufacturing, automotive, heavy equipment, industrial machinery, rail, or similar sectors, who has knowledge of control systems, CAN Bus communications, and fault-finding.

    The Role:

    Provide controls and software support, including fault finding, diagnostics and system optimisation
    Support commissioning, calibration, validation and testing of machine control systems
    Utilise CAN Bus diagnostics, CANalyzer and CANape to analyse system performance
    12-month contract with strong likelihood of extension, fully onsite in Peterlee
    The Person:

    Controls Systems Engineer / Controls Engineer / Automation Engineer with experience in industrial or embedded control systems
    Experience with CAN Bus communications, CANalyzer, CANape or similar diagnostic tools
    Background within manufacturing, automotive, machinery, heavy equipment, rail or a similar engineering environment
    Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach and ability to work independently
