How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Role

We are looking for a Junior Structures Engineer to join our Structures team, reporting directly to the Chief Engineer – Structures.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineering graduate, apprentice, or candidate with relevant manufacturing and engineering experience to develop their career within an aerospace environment.

Working alongside Senior Structures Engineers, you will support product weight management and develop your understanding of structural engineering activities, including Finite Element (FE) modelling and stress documentation.

The role operates in a high-pressure environment where maintaining design intent, accuracy and attention to detail are critical.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Create and maintain product weight reports.

    * Manage design weight records and ensure information is accurate and up to date.

    * Support Senior Structures Engineers with product weight management activities.

    * Develop an understanding of Finite Element (FE) model creation.

    * Develop an understanding of structural stress documentation.

    * Ensure allocated structural designs comply with applicable requirements and company processes.

    * Compile and deliver engineering documentation to the required standard and within agreed timescales.

    * Work collaboratively with engineering and manufacturing teams to support project objectives.

    * Travel to company and supplier locations as required to support project activities.

This list is not exhaustive. The successful candidate may be required to undertake additional duties as reasonably requested by their line manager and in support of the overall objectives of the organisation.

    Key Performance Measures

    * Engineering documentation completed to the required standard and delivered on schedule.

    * Accurate and timely maintenance of product weight records.

    * Compliance with applicable engineering requirements and company processes.

    * Effective communication and collaboration across relevant teams.

    Knowledge, Education and Skills

    Essential

    * Basic mathematical skills and an understanding of geometric formulas.

    * Strong attention to detail with the ability to see tasks through to completion.

    * Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

    * Ability to follow established company processes and engineering requirements.

    * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.

    * Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in an engineering discipline, or relevant experience within a manufacturing/engineering environment.

    Desirable

    * Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

    * Relevant engineering or manufacturing apprenticeship.

    * Experience using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.

    * Experience with CATIA V5 would be advantageous.

    * An understanding of structural engineering, FE modelling or stress analysis.

    Professional Experience

No previous professional experience is required.

This role would suit an engineering graduate, apprentice, or candidate looking to begin or develop a career in aerospace structures engineering.

    Additional Requirements

    * Willingness to travel within the UK and internationally when required by project needs.

    * Flexible approach to working across company and supplier locations.

    * The primary base location is the Bournemouth facility.

    * Travel between sites may be required to support project activities, PM functions and supplier visits.

    * Occasional international travel may be required.
