How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Maintenance & Systems Technical Authority

    Location: Barrow-in-Furness

    Skills & Qualifications

    Degree qualified in an Engineering or Technology discipline

    Chartered Engineer status

    Extensive maintenance engineering experience within onshore or offshore operations

    Proven experience working as a Technical Authority or senior discipline engineer

    Strong knowledge of maintenance strategies and reliability engineering

    Experience with safety-critical equipment, barrier management and maintenance assurance

    Strong understanding of maintenance management systems, work management and defect/backlog control

    Demonstrated ability to make and defend risk-based technical decisions within high-hazard environments

    Experience in event management and investigation techniques, ideally including Kelvin TopSet

    Strong technical governance, assurance and stakeholder management skills

    Ability to provide constructive challenge and confidently escalate safety or technical concerns

    About the Role

    We are looking for an experienced Maintenance & Systems Technical Authority to provide technical governance, assurance and leadership across maintenance strategies, maintenance management systems and asset care standards.

    As the Maintenance & Systems Technical Authority, you will play a key role in ensuring maintenance activities protect process safety, asset integrity, reliability and regulatory compliance throughout the asset lifecycle.

    You will act as the discipline Technical Authority, providing authoritative technical guidance, setting and enforcing standards, and making important risk-based decisions across the operating assets.

    What You Will Be Doing

    As the Maintenance & Systems Technical Authority, your responsibilities will include:

    * Acting as the Technical Authority for maintenance and maintenance systems within your defined scope

    * Approving or rejecting technical deviations, dispensations and non-conformances

    * Ensuring compliance with UK HSE regulatory requirements, including COMAH, Safety Case and SEMS requirements

    * Ensuring maintenance regimes support process safety barriers, statutory integrity requirements and production availability

    * Providing technical oversight of critical equipment, safety-critical elements, performance standards and assurance activities

    * Supporting failure investigations and acting as a Lead Investigator using Kelvin TopSet techniques

    * Acting as the technical owner for maintenance management systems

    * Ensuring maintenance systems support effective strategy execution, defect management and backlog control

    * Providing technical leadership for system upgrades, configuration changes and data quality improvements

    * Providing maintenance technical assurance during asset integrity reviews, audits and regulatory engagements

    * Supporting competence frameworks and technical capability development

    * Providing constructive technical challenge and escalation where standards or safety may be compromised

    * Supporting the wider business with additional technical duties as required
