How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Location: Home-Based Tuition, Ingatestone, Essex (CM4)
Hours: 5 Hours Per Week, 1 Day Per Week
    Start Date: 7 September 2026
Subjects: GCSE Drama and GCSE Double Science
    About the Role
Study Mind is seeking an experienced SEN Tutor to provide 1:1 face-to-face tuition for a 15-year-old Year 11 student with an EHCP who has been unable to attend school since Year 8 due to moderate to severe OCD and significant anxiety.
The successful tutor will deliver GCSE Drama and GCSE Double Science, working towards summer examination entry. This is a relationship-led placement where calm, predictability and a low-pressure approach are essential, delivered alongside an academically ambitious programme.
    About the Student
Our student is bright, thoughtful, kind and conscientious, with strong academic potential and real emotional insight. She achieved a grade 8 in Maths and is described as a high achiever who engages well with tutors. She is talented in music, theatre, dance and piano, and enjoys cooking and baking. She aspires to study politics at university and to pursue a career in acting or politics.
She has a diagnosis of moderate to severe OCD alongside significant anxiety and panic attacks, and presents with extensive daily rituals which increase under pressure or unpredictability. School buildings and unfamiliar environments are significant triggers. She works well with adults who are flexible, straightforward and understanding of OCD, and forms warm, trusting relationships once she feels safe.
    The Role Will Include
Delivering 5 hours of 1:1 home tuition in a single day.
Teaching GCSE Drama and GCSE Double Science towards formal examination entry.
Establishing current working levels and identifying gaps across both subjects early in the placement.
Supporting early consideration of exam access arrangements, including contributing to a JCQ assessment coordinated with the school and Local Authority.
Adapting pace and content to her emotional capacity on any given day, without losing sight of examination timelines.
Providing progress information and contributing to review meetings.
    Ideal Tutor Experience
We're looking for someone with experience supporting:
Learners with OCD, anxiety disorders and panic attacks.
GCSE Science and GCSE Drama at Key Stage 4, including exam board specifications and controlled assessment requirements.
Academically able students working towards formal qualifications outside a school setting.
EOTIS, EOTAS or home tuition placements.
Young people who have been out of face-to-face education for an extended period.
Students preparing for exam entry where access arrangements are required.
    Learning Approach
    The successful tutor will:
Communicate calmly, clearly and predictably, delivering information gently and without pressure.
Allow processing time and space for questions rather than moving at pace.
Recognise when OCD rituals or anxiety are escalating and reduce demand accordingly.
Avoid creating a sense of expectation or urgency, which can trigger deterioration.
Keep the learning environment low-stimulation and consistent from session to session.
Balance genuine academic challenge with an awareness that not every day will be productive.
    Important Requirements
A female tutor is required by the family, following a positive and established relationship with a female tutor previously.
The student has significant existing commitments. She receives tuition from another provider from 9am to 12pm, attends a session every other Tuesday from 11am to 12pm, and volunteers at a doggy day care on Tuesdays from 2pm to 4pm. She also attends CAMHS and therapy appointments on varying days. Scheduling will need to be agreed around these.
There are two cats in the home.
    Tuition Details
Location: Home-based tuition in Ingatestone, Essex (CM4). Sessions take place at the kitchen table in a familiar, low-stimulation environment.
Hours: 5 hours per week, delivered in one day.
Preferred Times: Afternoons, as mornings are already committed to existing tuition. Exact day to be confirmed around the student's therapy and volunteering commitments.
If you're an experienced SEN or GCSE Tutor who can combine strong subject teaching with patience, consistency and a sensitive, low-pressure approach, we'd love to hear from you
