How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    About the Opportunity

Are you unemployed and looking to start a career in welding?

Momentum Training is offering fully funded Level 1 and Level 2 Welding training in Sheffield, giving eligible learners the opportunity to gain recognised qualifications and develop the practical skills needed to progress into employment within the welding and engineering industry.

We have developed relationships with local recruitment agencies and employers across the Sheffield area who are actively looking for skilled welding candidates. Learners will receive support to prepare for employment and, where suitable vacancies are available, may be introduced to relevant employers or recruitment agencies following their training.

Previous welding experience is not essential.

    What Does the Training Cover?

The programme provides practical, hands-on welding and engineering training. Learners will develop skills in MIG, TIG and MMA welding, alongside fabrication and assembly techniques, working from engineering drawings and engineering workshop health and safety.

The programme is designed to give learners the practical experience, knowledge and confidence required to progress towards employment in welding, fabrication and engineering.

Successful learners will work towards accredited Level 1 and Level 2 Welding qualifications.

    Who Is This Course For?

This opportunity is aimed at individuals who are looking to start or develop a career in welding and engineering.

To be eligible for the fully funded programme, applicants must be aged 19 or over and currently unemployed, and must meet the relevant funding eligibility requirements. Applicants may also need to be claiming eligible benefits depending on the funding criteria.

Applicants must be able to attend the training in Sheffield and be committed to completing the programme.

All funding eligibility will be checked before a place is confirmed.

    Employment Support

Our aim is to help learners progress from training into employment.

Momentum Training works with local employers and recruitment agencies who regularly recruit for welding and engineering positions. Throughout the programme, learners can receive support with preparing their CV, completing applications, developing interview skills and understanding what employers are looking for.

Where suitable vacancies are available, we can support successful learners with introductions to relevant employers and recruitment agencies.

Please note that completion of the training does not guarantee employment. Any employment opportunity will depend on the learner's suitability, employer requirements and vacancies available at the time.

    Why Train With Momentum?

The training is fully funded for eligible learners, meaning there are no course fees to pay.

Learners will receive practical workshop-based training, work towards accredited Level 1 and Level 2 Welding qualifications and receive support with their progression into employment.
