How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Role Name: Multi-Sensory Support Worker 0.88 FTE

    Location: Redbridge Campus

    Pay Range: £40,600 - £42,000 per annum. Dependent on qualifications and experience.

    Hours and weeks: 35 hrs per week, 40 weeks per year, term-time only.

    Contract Type: Permanent

    Contract Term: Full-time, term-time only. Term time runs from Mid-August to Mid-July.

    The Role:


    We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Multi-Sensory Support Worker to join our Supported Learning team. In this rewarding role, you will provide specialist support to students who are deaf, partially hearing, visually impaired and/or multi-sensory impaired, enabling them to fully access their learning and achieve their potential. Working closely with students, tutors and support staff, you will help create an inclusive learning environment that promotes independence, confidence and successful progression.


    Key Responsibilities:


    • Provide direct and indirect support to students with sensory impairments, ensuring full access to the curriculum.
    • Use a range of communication and support methods, including BSL, note-taking, assistive technology, guiding and language modification.
    • Prepare and adapt learning materials to meet individual sensory needs and advise tutors on accessible resources.
    • Support students to develop independence, mobility, life skills and effective use of assistive technology.
    • Facilitate smooth transitions into college life and encourage positive interaction with peers and staff.
    • Deliver and promote sensory awareness training and guidance across the college.
    • Provide communication and mobility support during trips, work experience placements and college events.
    • Attend student reviews, EHCP meetings and team meetings, contributing to student progress and support plans.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records and administrative documentation.


    Who You Are:


    • You hold a Level 3 British Sign Language (BSL) qualification or are working towards achieving it.
    • You have experience supporting individuals with sensory impairments, ideally within an educational setting.
    • You understand the challenges and support needs associated with hearing and visual impairments.
    • You are passionate about inclusion and empowering students to achieve independence and success.
    • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and external partners.
    • You are organised, adaptable and able to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
    • You are committed to safeguarding, equality, diversity and continuous professional development.
