GIS Advisor
Location: Cardiff (Hybrid Working)
Pay Rate: £19.54 per hour
Contract: Initial 3-month contract with potential for extension
Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
The Role
We're recruiting for a GIS Advisor to support the development of consultation materials for a major public sector programme.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with GIS expertise to play a key role in creating high-quality mapping products and visualisations that will help communicate complex information to a wide range of stakeholders. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing GIS maps, developing StoryMaps, and publishing maps, Power BI reports, and graphical content to support consultation activities and decision-making processes.
The role will suit someone with strong technical mapping skills who can also work collaboratively with colleagues from a variety of professional backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, maintain and update GIS maps and spatial datasets.
- Develop engaging StoryMaps to support consultation and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Publish maps, visualisations and consultation products using appropriate digital platforms.
- Produce graphical content and data visualisations to support programme communications.
- Support the development and publication of Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Work with colleagues to ensure mapping and spatial information is accurate, accessible and fit for purpose.
- Assist with the preparation of consultation materials and supporting documentation.
- Provide general administrative and project support where required, including the use of Microsoft Office applications.
About You
We're looking for someone with experience in GIS and spatial data management who is confident producing high-quality mapping outputs and visualisations.
You will have:
- Experience using GIS software to create and manage mapping products.(ArcGIS)
- Knowledge of spatial data, mapping principles and geospatial analysis.
- Experience developing StoryMaps or other interactive mapping products.
- Experience publishing maps, reports and graphical outputs for a range of audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders.
- Competent Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
