How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Saw Operator

    Hours: Monday-Thursday 15:30-00:00 | Friday 12:00-18:00

    Pay: £17.02 per hour (Including shift allowance) + Bonus

    Overtime: Available

    We are recruiting for a Saw Operator on Permanent basis. Working for a company that is rich in history, a manufacturer that has real routes in the Halesowen area and is continously growing.

    Key Responsibilities

    Operate band saws and machinery within the saw area.
    Cut steel to works instructions and inspect components throughout the process.
    Manage and correctly identify stock and work in progress.
    Regularly check and inspect saws and report any issues.
    Help plan sawing priorities and maximise productivity.
    Work closely with other Saw Operatives, Forging and Heat Treatment teams.
    Collect and move materials between departments.
    Load and unload lorries.
    Operate cranes and forklifts where appropriately trained/licensed.
    Maintain a clean, tidy and organised working area.
    Support continuous improvement within the Die Plant.
    Follow all health & safety procedures and encourage good working practices.
    Work overtime when required.We're looking for someone who is:

    Reliable, hardworking and safety-conscious.
    Comfortable working in a heavy manufacturing environment.
    Able to follow instructions and work accurately.
    A good team player with a positive attitude.
    Physically capable of a hands-on, industrial role.
    Willing to learn and develop new skills.Previous experience operating machinery, band saws, cranes, forklifts or working with steel would be advantageous. A forklift licence is desirable but not essential.

    Training will initially be carried out on day shift for approximately one month, subject to progress:

    Monday-Thursday: 06:00-14:00
    Friday: 06:00-13:00

    This will be paid at £14.82 as the shift allowance is less.

    Following successful training, you will move onto the afternoon shift.
