How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Material Planner
    Location: Ampthill
    Salary: £38,000 – £44,000
    Clearance: BPSS required to start
    Working Pattern: Hybrid – 50% onsite
    Sector: Defence | Aerospace

    The Opportunity

    We are seeking an experienced Material Planner to support production by ensuring materials, components and kits are available when required.

    You’ll work closely with Manufacturing, Stores, Procurement and Supply Chain, using MRP/ERP systems to manage material requirements, identify risks and prevent production delays.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Support the Master Scheduler by reporting schedule status, risks and production constraints.
    Ensure material availability aligns with production requirements.
    Raise and release purchase requisitions within agreed SLAs.
    Coordinate material shipments and returns between sites.
    Monitor programme requirements and expedite deliveries.
    Identify shortages and resolve issues to minimise production disruption.
    Use MRP and ERP data to drive material planning activities.
    Prioritise material kits in line with production build schedules.
    Proactively resolve material and supply chain issues.
    Work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to drive actions through to completion.
    Required Experience:
    Material planning experience within Manufacturing, Aerospace, Defence, Automotive or another regulated environment.
    Strong understanding of material planning, inventory control and supply chain processes.
    Experience working with complex BOMs and large-scale manufacturing operations.
    Good working knowledge of SAP, including material management and purchase requisitions.
    Experience with Line of Balance (LOB) reports and shop-floor kitting.
    Strong Microsoft Office / Excel skills; macro knowledge advantageous.
    Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
    Ability to prioritise workloads and hold stakeholders accountable.
    Eligibility to obtain and maintain SC Security Clearance.
