How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Logistics Operative (nights) - Bury
    The Cormar Carpet Company is a proud, British, family-run business and has been making carpets since 1956 at our two mills in Lancashire. We make and deliver our carpets to around 3,000 Cormar Carpet Company retailers across the UK and Ireland, with a fleet of over 65 vehicles. We've won over forty carpet and flooring industry awards, including being voted "Best Carpet Manufacturer 2017" by readers of Interiors Monthly and F1 "Carpet Supplier Of The Year" for the last 13 years.
    Job Purpose
    As a Logistics Operative, you will play an important role in the smooth and efficient running of Cormar's warehouse operations. Working as part of the night shift team, you will help with picking, packing, loading, and stock movement activities to ensure customer orders are fulfilled accurately and on time. You will also help maintain high standards of quality, safety, and housekeeping across the site.

    Key Responsibilities
    * Carry out warehouse duties including picking, packing, loading, and stock movements.
    * Operate forklift trucks, boom lifts, and other machinery safely and effectively.
    * Use RF scanners and warehouse systems to record stock transactions accurately.
    * Ensure all products meet the required quality standards before dispatch.
    * Maintain agreed housekeeping and safety standards across the warehouse.
    * Support with regular stock counts and assist in maintaining accurate inventory records.
    * Work flexibly across the team, supporting colleagues and covering other tasks when required.
    * Follow all company health and safety procedures and report any incidents, damage, or hazards immediately.
    * Contribute to improvement initiatives that support safety, efficiency, and teamwork.

    Ideal Skills & Qualifications
    * Previous experience operating a forklift truck (FLT) - essential.
    * Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate clearly.
    * Good understanding of warehouse operations and stock control.
    * Able to work accurately and meet deadlines under pressure.
    * Basic IT and administrative skills for recording stock and order information.
    * Flexible and willing to take on a variety of warehouse tasks as needed.
    Hours: 40 hours per week on the night shift, Sunday - Thursday, 10pm - 6am.
    Salary: The hourly rate is £15.88 and the weekly shift allowance is £155.63 + benefits including Discretionary annual bonus. 31 days holiday, including bank holidays, increasing to 35 days after 5 years service, plus 4 days holiday purchase scheme. Healthcare scheme and pension (company matches employees contribution up to 10%) after 3 months service. Cycle to work scheme
