How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced transport planner looking to take ownership of projects, develop client relationships, mentor junior colleagues and play a key role in the continued growth of a highly regarded consultancy.

    The Role

As a Senior Transport Planner, you'll be responsible for managing and delivering a range of transport planning projects from inception through to completion, providing strategic advice to clients and supporting the wider development team.
    Key responsibilities include:

Preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, Access Appraisals and supporting planning documents.
Supporting the promotion of sites through the Local Plan process.
Managing transport modelling, forecasting and data analysis activities.
Delivering accessibility assessments and junction capacity modelling.
Developing sustainable transport strategies and contributing to masterplanning projects.
Acting as a key point of contact for clients, local authorities and stakeholders.
Managing project programmes, budgets and resources.
Providing technical guidance and quality assurance across project work.
Mentoring and supporting junior team members.
Assisting with fee proposals, bid submissions and wider business development activities.

    About You

To be considered, you'll ideally have:

Significant experience within development-related transport planning.
Strong knowledge of UK planning policy and transport guidance.
Experience delivering Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and related planning documents.
A good understanding of industry software including Junctions, LinSig and Excel.
Experience managing client relationships and delivering projects to programme and budget.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
The ability to mentor and support junior members of staff.
A commercial mindset and enthusiasm for developing client relationships.

    Desirable Experience

Chartered status (or working towards professional accreditation).
    Experience managing medium-scale development projects.
Knowledge of wider transport modelling software such as VISSIM, Paramics or SATURN.
    Experience with GIS software.
Exposure to public inquiries, hearings or expert witness work.

    What's on Offer?

    Hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing with service.
    Generous employer pension contributions.
    Discretionary bonus scheme.
    Private medical insurance.
