How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

    Job description

    OLG Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Senior Electrical Engineer to work for a client based in Royston. This position is 5 days full-time on-site support, with call out support as well. Duration time: 12 months currently.

    Role

    The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring statutory and legislative compliance, and service delivery of the electrical infrastructure and distribution network across the Royston site. This will include the safety and operational integrity of site electrical equipment and systems, covering both HV (11kV) and LV networks.

    The role acts as the site Duty Holder and Responsible Electrical Person (REP) and will lead the electrical function, covering maintenance, operation, statutory compliance, and upgrades where necessary. The role is also responsible for ensuring suitable asset integrity practices are in place and that all training and competency requirements within the electrical team are met.

    The Senior Electrical Engineer will be a technical specialist providing support to the site maintenance, reliability and projects teams for design, construction, assessing risk and improvement opportunities as well as assisting with trouble shooting and incident response.

    This role is a mix of site and office based work and will require the post holder to attend all areas of the site as part of routine duties, which will include climbing stairs and ladders to access electrical equipment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Responsible for the safety of electrical personnel and all work on the electrical equipment and systems at site, including both and contractors.

    * Proactively promote a positive Health & Safety culture and ensure adherence to policies (including HR/EHS/Security).

    * Management of operational, maintenance, and compliance requirements of site electrical systems.

    * Approval of electrical safety documentation, and that electrical safety guidance is followed.

    * Ensure that electrical compliance is achieved through adherence with all legislative requirements surrounding statutory inspections, maintenance and close out of remedial actions.

    * Responsible for compiling and performing HV switching schedules and setting protection settings.

    * Manage ongoing inspection and compliance programme for ATEX 137 and DSEAR so that equipment suitability is met within hazardous areas and that detailed equipment inspections is in place.

    * Identity training needs for site electrical team and establish training packages to work with/support our HV/LV networks.

    * Accountable for approval of all staff working on electrical equipment and maintaining the database of authorised personnel.

    * Core member of the electrical Community of Practice (CoP), work with other areas to share and develop best practice within the electrical environment across the company.

    * Maintaining an awareness of technology offerings, upgrades and best practice within the electrical environment.

    * Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing support, advice on electrical equipment design and ongoing assistance for operations and capital projects as required.

    * Act as energy champion within the Site Engineering team, providing technical input into sustainability groups and driving energy management and metering improvement programs.

    * Oversee management of the site HV infrastructure working with business units to ensure compliance with HSE and JM safety requirements. Develop an improvement roadmap for the HV infrastructure for site and work with Capital Projects to ensure projects are delivered to correct specification.

    * Support of any reasonable request from management

    Qualifications:

    * Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, with Chartered status being advantageous

    * 5+ years of industrial electrical experience including HV.

    * Experience holding SAEP status for HV network.

    * Understanding of DSEAR / ATEX regulations, CompEx 14 qualified desirable.

    * Experience of HSE frameworks to at least IOSH level.

    * Demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.

    * Demonstrate ability to work both independently and as a team member to accomplish objectives.

    * Knowledge of Microsoft Applications (Project, Excel, Powerpoint, Word) as well as AutoCad.

    * Experience in development of engineering standards and production of engineering reports
