How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Mechanical Design Engineer – Nuclear Sector

    North West – Hybrid working

    An exciting opportunity to enter the nuclear sector

    We are working with a growing nuclear engineering company, they are expanding their team and looking for talented Mechanical Design Engineers to join them.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer to build a long-term career within the nuclear industry, with outstanding prospects for professional development, specialist training and progression.

    The company is open to Mechanical Design Engineers from a variety of engineering backgrounds, including oil & gas, rail, aerospace, defence and automotive. If you have strong mechanical design experience and are looking to transfer your skills into the nuclear sector, this could be an ideal next step.

    The Role

    As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will contribute to the delivery of complex engineering projects, developing practical and technically robust mechanical design solutions within a highly regulated environment.

    You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and develop your knowledge of nuclear engineering, project delivery, design standards and safety-critical systems.

    The role offers a fantastic platform for a Mechanical Design Engineer to broaden their technical expertise while gaining valuable experience on major nuclear projects.

    About You

    We are keen to hear from Mechanical Design Engineers who have:

    * A degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

    * Professional experience in mechanical design engineering.

    * Experience using relevant engineering design tools and techniques.

    * Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

    * An interest in working within the nuclear sector and developing expertise in a highly regulated environment.

    * Experience from nuclear, oil & gas, rail, aerospace, defence, automotive or another technically demanding engineering sector.

    * A Full UK Driving licence is essential.

    Previous nuclear experience is not essential. The company recognises the value of transferable engineering skills and will provide the training and support required to help the successful Mechanical Design Engineer develop into the role.
