How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Teaching Assistant - PRU

    Location: Rochdale
    Start Date: September 2026
    Role: Full-Time Teaching Assistant

    Spencer Clarke Group are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Rochdale from September.

    This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour and who can build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may have struggled in mainstream education.

    The Role

    As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils both academically and emotionally. You will help create a safe, structured and positive environment where young people can develop their confidence, engagement and behaviour.

    The ideal candidate will have experience working in a PRU, SEMH, specialist school, residential setting or similar environment supporting young people with challenging behaviour.

    The successful candidate will:

    Have experience supporting young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
    Ideally have experience working in a PRU, SEMH school, specialist provision or residential setting
    Be confident managing challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
    Build strong, positive relationships with pupils
    Be resilient, patient and empathetic
    Work effectively as part of a wider staff team
    Support pupils with their learning, behaviour and emotional development
    Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of young people
