This is a great opportunity for an experienced Residential or Second Charge Mortgage Underwriter to join an intermediary-only specialist lender.

Our client will consider candidates from specialist, prime or high-street lending backgrounds, with both current and previous underwriting experience considered.

You must have strong manual underwriting experience and have held an underwriting mandate/delegated authority. This is an excellent opportunity to bring your existing underwriting experience into a growing specialist lending environment.

Responsibilities for the role of Residential Mortgage Underwriter:

Underwrite applications in line with company policy, underwriting criteria and risk appetite
Assess borrower circumstances, affordability, supporting documentation and overall credit risk to make sound lending decisions
Manage a pipeline of cases from application through to completion
Provide clear, concise and accurate updates to brokers throughout the underwriting process
Proactively liaise with brokers to obtain outstanding information and documentation
Ensure all case information and underwriting decisions are accurately recorded on the relevant systems
Build and maintain strong relationships with mortgage brokers, solicitors and third-party suppliers
Work closely with internal teams to ensure cases progress efficiently and within agreed timescales
Ensure all underwriting decisions comply with FCA regulation, company policy, responsible lending and risk requirements
Maintain high levels of service while managing a busy caseload and working to deadlinesExperience and skills required for the role of Residential Mortgage Underwriter:

Proven manual underwriting experience within a mortgage lender, with experience holding an underwriting mandate/delegated authority
Experience underwriting second charge and/or residential mortgage applications, with strong credit assessment and lending judgement
