How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Do you enjoy leading teams in a fast-paced warehouse environment and driving high standards of performance? Are you passionate about accuracy, people development, and delivering excellent customer service? If so, you could be the newest addition to our team as a Picking Supervisor.

Be part of the movement - and play your part.

    About the role

Working a 4 on 4 off night shift pattern (18:00–06:00), you'll lead a team of between 3 and 8 warehouse operatives, ensuring customer orders are picked accurately, completed on time, and delivered in line with service level requirements. You'll play a key role in maintaining picking accuracy, developing team capability, and ensuring stock integrity across the operation.

    You will be responsible for:

Supervising, supporting, and developing the night picking team to achieve operational and customer service targets

Ensuring customer orders are picked accurately, completed on time, and checked against documentation before dispatch

Monitoring picking performance, identifying root causes of errors, and implementing corrective actions to improve accuracy

Managing stock checks, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring warehouse systems accurately reflect physical stock

Generating dispatch documentation, pick sheets, and supporting the setup of the following day's operation

Planning labour resources to maintain productivity and hygiene standards within the department

Conducting onboarding, training, appraisals, and performance reviews while supporting wider warehouse activities when required

    About you

You'll ideally have previous experience in a warehouse, order picking, or supervisory role, with knowledge of Oracle systems and chilled warehouse operations being highly advantageous. Forklift and Powered Pallet Truck licences are welcome but not essential.

You’ll be a logical thinker with strong problem-solving skills and confidence working with operational data, spreadsheets, and warehouse systems. Good numeracy, communication, and basic written English skills are essential, along with the ability to remain calm under pressure during peak trading periods.

You'll thrive in this role if you're able to gain the respect of your team through positive leadership, clear communication, and leading by example. You'll enjoy working within a multi-national workforce and be committed to maintaining high standards. This role would suit someone who takes pride in doing a thorough job, is prepared to go the extra mile, and is looking to develop their career within DFDS. You'll also be comfortable working in a chilled warehouse environment (0–4°C) and understand the realities of working within a fish warehouse operation.

We think the strongest teams are built on diversity and inclusivity. Contrasting opinions, varied skills and strong characters bring out the best in us all. And we cannot wait for you to join.

    Working at DFDS

Join the movement and grow with us.

Now about what we can give you. You’ll be able to access some fantastic benefits such as:
