How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Power System Network Model Engineer

    Location:Woking based 5 days a week / Hybrid if SC Cleared
    Contract: Contract opportunity

    ARM is working with a leading technology and transformation organisation to recruit an experienced Power System Network Model Engineer with strong expertise in Transmission EMS Network Modelling and Power System Applications.

    This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex power system and operational technology projects, supporting the development and maintenance of accurate EMS network models used for real-time transmission system operations.

    The Role

    As a Power System Network Model Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and validating Transmission EMS Network Models, ensuring accurate representation of substations, transmission assets, network topology, connectivity, telemetry and operational equipment.

    You will support critical EMS applications including Network Topology Processing, State Estimation, Power Flow, Contingency Analysis and Real-Time Operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    Develop, maintain and enhance Transmission EMS Network Models.
    Create and manage device relationships across substations, busbars, circuit breakers, transformers, transmission lines, generators and other network assets.
    Build and maintain accurate connectivity and topology models.
    Validate network models and perform data integrity and quality assurance checks.
    Support modelling for new commissioning, network changes and asset updates.
    Ensure consistency between EMS, SCADA, GIS, Asset Management and Planning systems.
    Analyse and resolve model discrepancies affecting EMS applications.
    Support State Estimator, Network Topology Processor, Power Flow and Contingency Analysis functions.
    Participate in network model migrations, system upgrades and integration activities.
    Develop technical documentation, modelling standards and operational procedures.
    Support model governance, audit readiness and compliance activities.
    Manage customer and stakeholder relationships effectively.

    Key Skills & Experience

    Strong experience in Transmission EMS Network Modelling and Power System Applications.
    Expertise in device relationship creation and network connectivity modelling.
    Strong understanding of:
    Transmission network topology
    Substation configurations
    Network connectivity
    State Estimation
    Load Flow and Contingency Analysis
    Operational power system principles
    Experience with EMS platforms such as GE PowerOn or GE XA/21.
    Knowledge of IEC CIM standards (IEC 61970/61968) and model exchange processes.
    Experience with SCADA point-to-device mapping and telemetry modelling.
    Understanding of databases, SQL and XML.
    Experience with automation scripting, preferably Python.
    Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
    Ability to identify and communicate project risks while managing changing priorities.

    Experience Required

    Bachelor?s or Master?s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related discipline.
    8+ years' experience in Power System Network Modelling, EMS Applications or Utility Operational Technology.
    Experience working with Transmission System Operators (TSOs), Independent System Operators (ISOs), utilities or control centres.This is a great opportunity for an experienced EMS Network Modelling specialist to contribute to complex transmission network projects and support the systems underpinning real-time power system operations.
